Well in my opinion then they have to rebuild Bc if you're considering yourselves cup contenders you can't eat dead cap. You need every dollar. - Anthony5967
I agree, they should start the rebuild as soon as possible. Don't wait until all of the team's current assets are worth d!ck; circumvent the situation and be proactive this summer. |

Does anyone think JVR for Nash is realistic? Realistic in the sense that Tronna would do it. - Slimtj100
Not trying to be a dack but why the fack would toronto do that? |

How much do you want to bet that Tavares doesn't leave the Isles as a UFA after next year? - eichiefs9
HAHA True.
He will be leaving in 2 years when he becomes a UFA
The Islanders never spent a dime to give him a solid wing man or ANY help up front. He is Gonzo

They'll get back a winger for Hamonic from the Oil. They'll probably try and throw out an offer that they think will land Hall, but will ultimately accept Eberle+. Tavares and Eberle have had success in the past at the WJC's. He's not Taylor Hall but he's not exactly a slouch either.
I highly doubt they will let Tavares walk. They'll be talking extension from the first day they are allowed to do so. |

Big difference here is that Tampa has some albatross contracts, on their docket, and have some important RFAs to re-sign on top of the Stamkos issue. They are pressed tightly to the cap max and are going to have to do some serious shifting in order to retain Kucherov and Stamkos. |

I'm probably wrong? You're probably wrong? I don't understand.
I doubt Tavares is dying to go from a team who's just starting to become truly competitive to a team who is still going to be in the early stages of rebuilding, in the prime of his career. The Islanders will pay him what he deserves after taking such a team-friendly deal the first time around. |

Isles are in good shape regardless of what happens in this series against Florida.
Hamonic is an excellent trade chip to have and they will get something outstanding for him this summer. The emergence of Pulock is going to allow Hamonic's departure to not sting as badly. |

I agree, I'm so done with Dom Moore.
It's a must that Lindberg gets his spot full term next season. They didn't trade Oscar for a reason and I can only think that's the reason. - Slimtj100
Really? Weren't you going to retire his number a month ago?
I too love what Dom brought us, but he is replaceable. Time to move on. That only saves $1.5 though. |

JVR is 26, Nash is 31
Both have the same term remaining, but JVR is $3.6 mil cheaper and probably a comparable production rate at this point moving forward - hawkeytalkman
I just think Toronto would love to get him. Babcock likes him from what I remember in the olympics. As a detriment to a contender like he was here, a rebuilding team is perfect for Nash. One thing about Nash, as a two player it would rub off on a young team. Wether or not JVR is gettable is another thing, but I think it's an obvious trade partner for him. The salary wouldn't hit them as hard as other teams. Honestly I would take a fairly decent prospect and a 2nd rder just to get Nash outta here |

He's stating the obvious here but the one thing I liked, that he mentioned, is the issue of mishandling Lindberg. I felt he got a raw deal this season and he didn't deserve the nightly healthy scratch moniker he received. |

Third line was very good for a while down the stretch, then got broken up, never to recover. |

Eberle+?
I think Hamonic for Eberle is a fair 1 for 1 swap |

Vigneault's inability to see what lineup worked best definitely played a huge part in how this season took shape. |
