E.Staal has been getting progressively worse for the past 3 years... It's sad to see him like this.

he battles hard and gets chances, his finishing skills are completely gone

Starting to think it's in the DNA cause M Staal is getting worse as well

we're probably gonna butt heads on this issue all summer

but, I'll say it now, if the Rangers trade Lundqvist I'll buy one of those broadway hats, salt it up and eat it and make a video out of it

- jimbro83

Go light on the Salt. its not good for you.
Its not happening anyway (Hank getting traded) but would love to see you eat a hat.

No question he was going for it but Yandle is not a difference maker guy is terrible in his own end takes dumb penaltys that end up in back of net and pp did not improve much if at all . That move was made cause he knew he Franked up with the old man Boyle signing. And Staal even though Gorton made move let's be honest Sather was in his ear . Guy was finished in Carolina and how many players come to NY and resurrect their careers can count them on one hand. But yes contracts are terrible and it's gonna be tough to move a couple.
- dman78

But that's another thing right there. He got them Yandle a premier qb on the pp and he was still on the second unit for most of last season and this. It wasn't only Yandle. The team has a bad mentality on the pp, slow movement, lackadaisical , pass too much. Issues stem beyond Yandle.

I wonder if they try and move M.Staal and Hayes at the draft possibly in a package, buy out G and figure out a taker for Count the cash Rick Nash.

I gotta wonder if this team's only untouchables are
Hank
McD
Skjei
Stepan
Zucc

Everybody else could possibly be up for grabs. I feel as if Brassard is a guy who should stay but at the same time the same guys disappear at the worst times.

Both Staal's suffered some gruesome injuries that arguably finished them off. Staal hurt that knee at the championships a few years back if I remember and Marc Staal can not see the puck at times and is slow due to him having to think slow. It's a problem.

DOnt think Stepan is untouchable. NYR NEEDS #1 center. No team has one cup....ever w/out bonifide #1 center. Want to see more of a team w/ some high end studs, and 1-2$ mill. guys. Caps, Pitt, CHi, Dallas, all have these go to studs w/ compliment players. We don't have that. Won't win w/out it

He would be a great third liner but you know damm well some team is going to overpay him this summer.

I am not mad at the trade, the Rangers thought he would help one last run with this core.

It didn't work, these things happen, but it's not like the team was gutted because of the move.

Does anyone think JVR for Nash is realistic? Realistic in the sense that Tronna would do it.

I think the only person who SHOULD be untouchable is McDonagh. #1 dmen are hard enough to find as it is and NYR have one of the maybe 15-17 true #1 dmen in the league.

Everyone else is replaceable on some level or can be had for the right price, or at cheaper cost

Boyle should but it's not a certainty. The Rangers not bringing him back is 100% happening though and that is what matters most around here.

Nash has to go don't care if you get 50 cents on the dollar for him can't pay 8 mil for defensive forward who misuses 15 games a yr

Perhaps, they have a lot of cap space but I think they are reserving that for Stamkos.

I agree . I am just basing it off what Rangers management might think but I always would consider moving Stepan. Good two way pivot good for 55 points a year but that's not a number one center. He's a very good number two. We don't have a number one center or legit sniper.

0 chance.

NYR has to kick in a big sweetener if it happens on some level. JVRs contract is so much more cap friendly and he is dead center in his prime while Nash is on the way out

McDonagh, Miller and Skjei are the three I wouldn't want moved for any reason.

I agree w/ that, with maybe exception of Skjei, and Zuuc.

Hank aint going anywhere w/out a trade request.

If the Rangers are willing to eat a few million per, there will be a taker on Nash this summer.

plus Stamkos is coming. Tampa's success w/out him gives them a reason not to sign him, and mark my words that John Tavares will be leaving Isles as UFA after next year. Tavares and Stamkos tandom in Toronto

JVR is 26, Nash is 31

Both have the same term remaining, but JVR is $3.6 mil cheaper and probably a comparable production rate at this point moving forward

I think one way to force Hank's hand is to commit to a rebuild of some sort this summer. Hank won't stay around for a few more years of not contending.

Well in my opinion then they have to rebuild Bc if you're considering yourselves cup contenders you can't eat dead cap. You need every dollar.

How much do you want to bet that Tavares doesn't leave the Isles as a UFA after next year?
