Like I said, he's in a very tough spot in NY. Win now is imperative when that time comes. He made decisions that backfired but all GMs do. It's the nature of the sport. Girardi at the time was fine, now he's lost a step or two. He never had the luxury of being top 5 in the draft really. Like I said before, I can't deny Boyle here and Stralman leaving looks awful, but at the same time another d long term still wouldn't be great right now either. He ultimately signed the wrong one long term I guess
He is responsible for McD and Klein which are very good deals - Slimtj100
yep. Of course they draft Cherepanov who was supposed to be the next Tarasenko/Kuz before they even came into the league and he tragically dies. That was a major loss too. |

I would deal the farm for Tarasenko if he became available
Kreider+Hayes+1st(why not deal another first)+ Graves? Maybe add a second? I WANT THE CUP - Anthony5967
We could of had Tarasenko for free |

That stings . Could've had Kuz too in that draft. Sather and Clark loved the Russian talent too. Maybe Cherepanov dying scared them away but they took Cherepanov whose stock dropped in that 2007 draft. |

yeah, but, just something to point out that he has some trade value
there are going to be 29 disappointed teams this summer, not only the NYR
maybe a team thinks Rick Nash could get them over the hump
at this time last year, nobody wanted to touch Phil Kessel with a 10 ft pole - jimbro83
Great point about Kessel, I'm just not a Rich Nash fan, I think he's soft, no playoff passion, no elevated play from him in big playoff games. |

The only good thing about this season is no playoff heart attacks and no major stress. We all saved our bodies a few years with this quick exit - TPC

What did Sather do that was so bad? They've been a contender for a few years made the playoffs every year but one. I never understand the hate he gets. Sure he made moves that hurt the future, but you strike while the iron is hot...I can't blame him for going for it. I swear people just hate things just to hate them, I'll never understand it. Keep in mind, as Pete mentioned before, he did all that without a superstar draft pick, as in a top 5 pick. Pre lockout he was a disaster, but my opinion is after the lockout he was in the best GMs category. They have hometown guys that contributed year in year out, made great trades and found diamonds in the rough. What else would you expect or want? A cup obviously, but he certainly didnt sit on his hands and forget to try that.
Anthony, I find you extremely annoying, no offense - Slimtj100

'Sup fellas?
51 pages?
My buddy came over to watch the game and we turned it off at the end of the 2nd. Ended up watching The Last Kingdom instead. Great book series, BBC did a pretty good job with the TV show.
But I digress.
Watching the Isles win last night stung. At least we didn't get swept.
Like TJ said, I can definitely see the Sedins here. AV loved the sisters, and I could see him talking Gorton into bringing them here. |

If Mac was a little more mobile he'd be a monster Bc he has the size and shot . McIlrath I'm talking about. |

If the Rangers traded for the 36 year old twins I might become an Islander fan. |

Some guys just aren't good skaters. Can we get the number of Brian Boyle's skating coach for McI? That made a huge difference in his game. For a while anyway, until BB went back to his old habits. |

Ken Hitchcock is a disgrace. You need a goal. You see Kane, Keith, Toews being run out there like crazy and you've played 7 forwards more minutes than your 40 goal scorer in Tarasenko? |

Wouldn't surprise me. I just see so many different ways to keep this team good and replenish the prospect/draft picks and if they do something so stupid like that it would drive me crazy. |

I kinda agree with you a bit. I wouldn't mind adding by subtracting, i.e.- Nash, Boyle, Girardi (even though it pains me to see him go) all out of here. Skjei in full time, Boyle out alone is a gigantic upgrade. Get whatever you can for Nash, I honestly don't care what it is-picks, prospects, depth players, etc- just can't watch him anymore. Insert mcilrath full time also will add some constant nastiness and an offensive game that I think may be a bit underrated with his shot. Moore, Stalberg, E Staal and Yandle can all go aswell. They need an identity change in the worst way, or an identity in general. Speed was it but if you start losing guys like Hagelin is it really the identity anymore? And it honestly is very easy to beat in the playoffs.
Id like to add players like Lucic Ladd or Okposo. Weise or Matt Martin. And a dman and hope for the best. |

You see Larry Brooks article today where he throws out the idea of trading McDonagh? Man they would need to get a major haul to do that

We just lost in the first round for the first time in 5 years, I think Brooksie is looking to keep fans reading his junk, that's a rebuild move |
