This is my thinking...they're gonna keep trying to do what it takes to win it for two more years. Unload some passengers this year and retool a bit (i.e.- like I said today, get the Sedins for example). Something ginormus, whatever it is. If in the middle of the 2017-18 season they're are looking like a non contender (at the deadline or next draft), EVERYONE gets moved that's reasonable to move. Including Hank. And that's when the organizational a-bomb will go off. I don't see it happening before then |

Matt Martin's a UFA this summer - jimbro83
What makes him more effective than he is are his line mates and how Cluttersuck hits everything too, he has limited ability, that would be a Rangers move if they had cap space to waste |

oh wow the sedins huh?
while it would be cool to see them basically become team sweden, i cant say that would probably be the smartest direction in my opinion. although that would be a total NYR move. |

I don't think Lundqvist will ever want a change of scenery, I really think he loves this franchise as much as we do.
Asking him to take a trade would like asking us to root for a new team |

Exactly haha
Edit: it makes to much sense. There old coach, NYR is Sweden USA and the Rangers make bold, arguably stupid lol, moves. Gortan could be like Cashman for the Yankees tho and not think like that. Gonna be an interesting summer for sure |

Sather has done a horrendous job of evaluating talent. At the same time, henrik knows this organization has tried to go for it year in and year out now since 2011 really. He will either win the cup here or go down with the titanic as the captain on board. Sather already jumped, he handed the mess to Gorton |

Hayes and Fast to NJ or w.e it would take to get Palmeri. Nash for picks.
Sign Stamkos. Buyout Girardi let Boyle Yandle E.Staal Moore Stalberg walk.
Buchnevich Stamkos Miller
Kreider Stepan Palmeri
Lindberg Brass Zucc
Glass X Hrivik
The 4th line center would be someone good at faceoffs with grit. Similar to Konopka. |

While I hate the Sedins idea bc it's the stereotypical Rangers thing to do, it's not too far fetched in my mind. Too bad Hagelin can't still be here to add another Swede with speed.
It won't work with the D corps we have though. Same problem we have now: Skill forwards can't transition through the neutral zone with speed when they are dodging the puck coming up the boards at their heads from their D man rather than the lazy bums taking one extra step and making a tape to tape pass. Ironically here's Johnston talking about that very thing in Vancouver https://youtu.be/2kLHPwdeXgQ |

What did Sather do that was so bad? They've been a contender for a few years made the playoffs every year but one. I never understand the hate he gets. Sure he made moves that hurt the future, but you strike while the iron is hot...I can't blame him for going for it. I swear people just hate things just to hate them, I'll never understand it. Keep in mind, as Pete mentioned before, he did all that without a superstar draft pick, as in a top 5 pick. Pre lockout he was a disaster, but my opinion is after the lockout he was in the best GMs category. They have hometown guys that contributed year in year out, made great trades and found diamonds in the rough. What else would you expect or want? A cup obviously, but he certainly didnt sit on his hands and forget to try that.
Anthony, I find you extremely annoying, no offense |

Sather did a bad job evaluating the team two years ago starting with Stralman, I fully believe we were very close and the moves since the Finals have put us in this position, I also believe his decisions were selfish and for the betterment of his final hurrah as GM, he spent 15 years and didn't win a single Cup, The Rangers are the only team to give a GM that long of a leash
I get angry when I think about Sather |

I think people way overreact to how bad he was. It really changed with Stralman, and I think that's hysterical because ultimately that's all you got on him. |

I'm extremely annoying for my opinion? Wow . Like you believe Sather is a legend, I have my opinions on him. From the cup run to now where has he made brilliant moves Slim? I am just saying Hank knows they've tried to go all in as long as he's in net. Henrik hasn't been deprived . He does have gold medals, silvers, he's been to a cup , eastern conference appearances. |

Was just making light of it because I never agree with you haha. I'm easily annoyed
In no way do I think he was legend. But one bad year or bad move and you guys all the sudden think he's the worst GM ever. It comes across that way at least.
My opinion is pre lockout he was god awful, but after that I don't think we coulda did much better and I think that's fair. |

Sather isn't a moron I just don't believe he's done a great job since the cup as far as proper personnel and question why he let certain guys go and brought in worse replacements. I believe pre lockout was a disgrace like you said aside from Jagr, that deal was a steal. Is Anson even with the MSG network anymore? . All Is good Slim. |

The kind of stuff that is highly irritating is something like:
Rangers drafted Jessiman, Sather is a moron!
Rangers drafted Lundqvist, that euro scout is s genius!
Meanwhile everyone knows that Sather probably had little to do with both being drafted or he made both decisions. My point is you can't bash him for one and not give him credit for the other, that is very unfair. |

Like I said, he's in a very tough spot in NY. Win now is imperative when that time comes. He made decisions that backfired but all GMs do. It's the nature of the sport. Girardi at the time was fine, now he's lost a step or two. He never had the luxury of being top 5 in the draft really. Like I said before, I can't deny Boyle here and Stralman leaving looks awful, but at the same time another d long term still wouldn't be great right now either. He ultimately signed the wrong one long term I guess
He is responsible for McD and Klein which are very good deals |
