I doubt it will be an option. We will get Darren Helm and like it!!

Thanks Pete.

So now that the season is over can I say I was right about E Staal?

Couldn't do it. I will never get another one because it will never compare to my golden. Wouldn't have been fair to the dog. I do still love goldens though. Except my neighbors, that one is an bumhole for some reason.

I think you can say that about every trade deadline deal that gives up future pieces when the team doesn't win the Stanley Cup. But, I tell you what, I have a funny feeling that we may not be done with Staal yet.

That's my biggest problom with him. He just could careless wether they won or lose, and for some reason it feels like the whole team took that to heart now.

This team needs a facelift and he's the poster boy for it. I really haven't much against him as a player. He's personality I just can't take anymore

- Slimtj100

Part of this team's personality issue. Way too many nice mild mannered guys on this team. All looking to defer the glory of scoring to someone else. You need a locker room that has some fire to it. You need someone who gets pissed off to get everyone more aggressive.

The only thing I want from Eric Staal is a conversation to Marc about removing his NTC so they can go to the same team together.

Yeah, there was just something so special about my golden. I know a lot of people say they have the best dog, but he really was. Never barked, could walk him anywhere with out a leash, just an incredible laid back personality.

Now I'm dealing with the Tasmanian (frank)ing devil when he wakes up from his 6 hour power nap.

Why would Stamkos want to come to New York when the team looks like it is declining and Hank is getting older

Just throwing it out there

- TPC

Well, there is something to being the franchise player for the NY Rangers. We do have one of the best organizations in terms of whats offered and NYC can be a draw to some. Toronto was always rumored but I think we are far ahead of them in terms of still putting together a championship type team. The players that are here, you have to question whether this was just a bad year that worse than it should have been considering just the past year few years. I think we are also one of the few teams that can offer the $11M too.

I think they interest the Red Wings a lot too, though. Athanasiou played fantastic in that series against Tampa. I imagine they'll be looking to jettison some of the older players.

One guy I think would be a really good fit for the Rangers? Luke Glendening. He'd be a really good 3rd line center for you guys. Speedy and high-energy. Haven't the slightest idea if DET would move him or not.

We've needed dyck heads for years on this team. We had a little bit in the torts days with Dubie, Avery, prust, etc. But we didn't have enough speed or skill. They've focused on speed and skill to a fault building the team now. It can only take you so far. Need to mix and match better.

If we're gonna trade with Detroit, give me some abdelkader, that guy is a total douchebag

Abdelkader just signed a 37 year contract with Detroit for $4.25 million per. That is too rich for my liking, especially since we traded Hags because we couldn't afford to pay that type of player that type of money (not saying they are the same player, but a player that is offensively challenged and does other things well).

I think it becomes a lot easier to build a team when you spent 2-3 years drafting in the top 5.

Look at the teams remaining in the East.

Pens - Drafted Crosby 1st overall and Malkin 2nd overall.
Isles - Drafted Tavares 1st overall.
Caps - Draft Ovechkin 1st overall.
Tampa - Draft Stamkos 1st overall and Hedman 2nd (or third) overall.

Similarly, the Hawks' dynasty is built, in large part, on two players drafted 1st overall (Kane) and 3rd overall (Toews).

Its not the only path, but it makes life much easier to have that franchise guy.

I hadn't seen that. Well forget him then haha

It's all relative tho, players that are difficult to play against. It's like we're the smurfs again. Mcilrath needs to play regularly it would add some of that

You guys have been really lucky to have four generational players in the prime of their careers -- Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby and Malkin. One of these days, I would love one of those type players to come up through the Rangers organization, although it's clear that it will take hitting rock bottom to do so, and even then you need to be lucky -- i.e., the Rangers had the same chance to win that Crosby lottery that the Pens did. Being worst in the league only wins you a 20% chance at the top pick.

Is there a bigger badder douche bag in the league than Milan Lucic? They need someone like him, it wont happen but I want someone like him on the Rangers. Big bad Gorilla who will be willing to get into fights in practice with guys who are just going through the motions.

One guy yesterday proposed a Stepan for Ryan Ellis swap. You know, that's a deal that's pretty realistic in my opinion. That would be your Stralman 2.0. Ellis is able to make that first pass out of the zone and has a good hard shot from the point on the power play. Send Brassard. Or send a Hayes package.

i know you said prime, but he was pretty damn good with you guys...

i get what you're saying though. so much of it is luck too. people that tell you otherwise are cocky or delusional. a lot of it depends on just who is coming out that year too. a guy like nugent hopkins. solid player. but you didnt get a franchise cornerstone at that number one year. same with hall, who is an even better player. it took edmonton 4 tries at the overall before they finally landed it on a year that a true franchise, generational, whatever you want to call it was coming out.

the skill for a GM/franchise comes in how they build around it. which can be tricky in its own right.

Ellis is a quality player but not for Stepan or Brassard. At least in my opinion.
