I agree here. Yandle is a great passer, but he is not very good in his own zone. Need more shooters on this team. McIlrath isn't a perfect replacement, but he brings better physical presence and a great shot that he isn't afraid to use; and will be $4M cheaper.

Rangers will have 5 of their own 1st round picks on the team next, that's not a bad thing to have, I have little doubt that they'll be better with a full summer and the results of this season motivating them, it's all about Girton this summer

Imagine if we had him all year. I liked seeing that last playoff game every time he got it he ripped it on net

he was hurt almost the whole year in Hartford though

They're still elite players to be honest but who knows for how much longer?

I just don't see the Rangers going into rebuild mode, huge shake up yes, rebuilding ain't happening right now. They're not gonna think like fans and it's the Rangers, filling the building is a priority, for better or worse, it just is. I could totally see something like the Sedins here which would be considered a shake up. AV coached them too, so if anything crazy happens this is my prediction haha.

Rangers are still a playoff team next year

they still had 101 pts this year and while yes, they were mediocre, probably once Nash came back really, they still have a lot of good players and a lot of them are hitting theur prime

Stepan, Brassard, Zuccarello, McDonagh, Kreider, Miller, this is a playoff team

It pissed me off that we had to insert a guy in game 5 of the playoffs to shoot the puck on the PP though

Yandle's shot isn't good enough for a guy looking for 6-7 mil a year

Diaz has already signed in Europe for next year, not an option
- jimbro83

Didn't realize that.
Ok, with Boyle going and letting E. Staal and Yandle walk there is plenty of cash to complete the back end. I still don't see them getting what they would want for Nash this summer. At the TDL teams are more willing to take a shot (see NYR history). And it's not like Nash HURTS us on the ice, unless you think we are winning the Cup and have to have EVERY possible win. And in that case, you saw something this season that I did not.

Rangers won't rebuild, but they will go out and acquire young players.

Buchnevich, Skjei, and McIlrath becoming full time players are the obvious moves off the bat.

As far as a roster shakeup, I could 1 of Kreider/Hayes/Miller dealt for either a draft pick or another young roster player.

I don't think Stepan or Brassard or Zucc are going anywhere. McDonagh and Klein are too important to move. Staal is unmoveable. I'd put the chances of a Girardi buyout at greater than 50%.

And let's not forget...Stamkos is a free agent.

there really isn't plenty of cash

Kreider is going to get 4 million a year, that's what Hagelin was going to cost and Kreider's numbers are better than Hags were

JT Miller could end up in the 3 mil a year range, they need to re-sign Raanta, McIlrath and Hayes will get raises

the cap is going to be tight, plus, we learned this year they shouldn't be capped out and be stuck when there are injuries

Not one, but two aging and $$$ players. Just don't think about it. I do not know or want to know what the cost would be for two guys on the wrong side of their prime years.

I think if AV had his choice he would move Hayes but who knows what Gorton will do

Yea Hayes excels at center and there just wouldn't be room for him there with Stamkos - Stepan - Bassard.

MILLER GOES NOWHERE!!!!!
I'd also like to see Kreider for one more year, just to see who the real Chris Kreider is. Hayes has the grit of a wet noodle and the passion & urgency of a house cat. Hopefully we can find a GM that hasn't been paying to close attention to deal with for him.

I agree with you about Miller. On Kreider, I think we know who the real Chris Kreider is. He's a player that will be dominant at times, and at other times look like he's lost in space. I hope I am wrong, but I think he just is what he is.

Chris Kreider is the kind of player that if he is dealt would absolutely come back to slaughter the Rangers everytime we played against him

There is no doubt on my mind. He would probably find his way to the Penguins, somehow.

Unless G is bought out or dealt and same with Nash, Stamkos isn't even a possibility. And who knows if Gorton wants to pay one player 11.5mil a year for say 7-8 years. That's an albatross contract.

BAM! Hayes out of Kreids and Miller should be the one dealt if one of the three must be moved. I'm gonna deal Kreider a guy still 25 and tons of potential and a guy in Miller who at 22 had a 43 point year? No way. I'll deal Haysey. I'll take my chances.

I think they'd have to trade Stepan if Stamkos was a consideration

Stamkos, Stepan and Brassard down the middle doesn't really work. You could argue that neither Step nor Brass are 1st line centers, but neither is a 3rd line center either

I think this Kreider, Miller, Hayes thing changes on a regular basis depending upon which of them is playing well at the time. Right now, Hayes should be the odd man out in a lot of people's minds, because he is the one slumping. At some points it was Miller. At others points, it was Kreider. The whole thing is so confusing.

If Blues fail to win again maybe they will want to shake things up as well maybe they can take Shattenkirk off there hands

Would be nice to finally have a number 1 center I like Stepan and Brassard but they are number ones but you can't pay 1 player 10 or 11 mil a yr
