Lundqvist is all world no doubt. But put yourself in an opposing GMs shoes, even if Hank waives do you touch a 33 year old goalie with the highest goalie cap hit in the league running until he is 40?
I just don't think blow it up is an option. This was a 100 point season for the Rags, as much as I hate them I don't think the situation is as dire as some make it to be (other than Staal and Girardi) - smellmyfinger
If the Stars flame out, huge if and this scenario is unlikely. But I'be fine with Hank for one of Lehtonen or Niemi and Hemsky. The Salaries even out and the Stars get an upgrade in goal. Add in some spare parts for the Rangers and maybe like a 2nd or 3rd from the Dallas side. |

After seeing Gomez not only moved, but returning a top pair defenseman I'll never say never. - smellmyfinger
True, but as an example, TOR would take Staal to bring the PO exp to their young group. |

I want the Rangers to go full rebuild. Now, nobody is taking M.Staal and Girardi. The Rangers are gonig to t have to eat those deal. But I want the Rangers to sit down with both Lundqvist and Nash and try to get both of of them to agree to a trade. Won't happen, but it's what I want. - tomburton99
Ooof...I get it, but that's a tall order. Right move or wrong move, you can't trade Lundqvist. He's still got gas in the tank and besides, that would be like the Yankees flipping Jeter or Mo once they were pretty much out of being a contender.
Nash still has value, not what he used to though. I think his cap hit is going to be really prohibitive. Competitive teams won't want to add that much salary and I can't see the draw to a rebuilding team nor do I see him choosing to go to one. My guess is that he plays out next season and maybe is a deadline move in the final year of his contract, when his cap hit will be prorated.
I'm honestly not sure what the move is for the Rangers. Blowing it up would be real hard and with another first rounder going out the door this year, it might not be time yet. I would imagine that the most prudent thing to do would be to shed as much of the dead-weight as possible and try to just make one or two responsible signings in the off-season. If Buchnevich comes as advertised that will be big add at a small cost, but they'll still need a true #1 center at some point. |

Imagine the uproar if Hank not only waives but Lou brought him to Toronto. |

Blues are snake bit. Don't know what that franchise did to deserve this but (frank) what a choking franchise. |

I honestly don't think it would be an uproar, it be beneficial to both teams. Hank is getting older w/a high cap hit, which most know.... |

I have the Sharks this year as my surprise team out of the west, and so far my pick looks good |

I think the true fans would understand that, the people who follow hockey year round. But this is NY we are talking about the media, and "fans" would lose their collective poop. |

Boyle X 1 year, Yandle takes a discount at 3 years at 5 mil per, Eric Staal 7 years 6 mil per. |

Trade Nash And Hayes.
Sign stamkos.
Buyout Girardi.
Let Yandle walk.
Boyle is off the books.
Get buchnevich over here.
This is what I'd like to see happen. Will it, probably not but one can hope.
McD Skeji Staal on the left
Klein McIlrath X on the right.

But seriously though, I know everyone wanted Sather gone and Gorton Hired....but Gorton deserves a big F for this season. Every move he made/ moves he didn't make sucked big time |

I want Nash to be trade to San Jose for Marleau +. The plus being a prospect and conditional 3rd. My plan has the Rangers being worse for a few years to get better in the long run.
Zucc Brass Marleau
Kreider Stepan Miller
Buch Hayes Hemsky
Glass Lindberg Fast
Hrivik
Mcdonagh Mcilrath
Skjei Klein
Staal Girardi

That's why a full blown rebuild. Just start over. All of this didn't work. Build toward to future. |
