I have no problem with him being paid that money, the problem is his salary in relation to the cap. Baseball doesn't have that issue as they have the Luxury tax.
I think the cap is good, if it wasnt in place the Rangers would be overpaying for EVERYBODY, now they are just limited to overpaying only 4-5 guys

I think the salary cap sucks in the fact it makes fans hate their own players |

Excited for what summer break?
The only reason they should come back to NY is to get booed on and off the ice, the poop we have to take because they don't care an ounce about winning, just take the money and run |

Hey guys - When I read Jan's blog and she said "something feels off", I think thats how a lot of Pens fans felt about our team the last two years. Just wanted to say we can relate and as a hockey fan it sucks knowing your team has that potential but something feels like its holding them back. Whether its coaching, heart or whatever...it sucks.
You still have one of the best goalies in the league, and this series isnt over yet as we have learned the last two years.
All that being said, I do hope they destroy you guys on Saturday if only so I dont have to hear the MSG announcers anymore. They are just as bad as the Pens announcers, but at least those are "my" guys. |

For this guy to even consider Diaz over Dylan when Dylan has been here all year and has not been bad pretty much tells me that he has no clue what to do. Diaz had 4 points last year in 56 games and if he was any good he would have been up here this year. This is a total reach and slap in the face to that kid and don't think his teammates don't see that. You have to wonder if the team sees he has no answer. That Mcilrath has stuck up for teammates all year and has been treated porly by this coach.Putting Diaz in is insane |

I don't expect you to make a list of your most 'hated' players (on the current roster) list, but please do
Anyways, here's mine:

Boyler
Mr. Dump in
Nasher
Don't wanna say MStaal but I'm saying it |

Lets face it. Fans hated players on their team long before the cap came into play. Once a players starts to decline or isn't producing like they should be they are killed regardless of a cap or no cap system. It's always been that way |

And very often there's a weak brass giving those players a too good/ too long deal |

Fleury is a huge trade chip. There are teams looking for a dependable franchise goalie. 5.75 isn't a bad price for that. Not sure if the concussions will lower his value, but a return like what we gave up for Kessel is likely. |

Funny how much you guys are talking rebuild when you pretty much have 3 problems.
Nash
Girardi
Staal (to less extent)
IF you were getting the $20 million in production you are paying those three guys you would be in great shape.
As oppose to the Penguins who are only negative salary is Rob Scuderi (1.1 retained) and to a very small extent Kunitz (think he's like 3.5 a year). Matt Murray is playing like a $6 million a year goalie so no big deal that Fleury is hurt.
I have no idea how you can deal with those situations. Nash can probably be traded with $1-2 retained (maybe for zero return like a 5th round pick), Girardi is a retention case, and Staal you might be able to get someone to bit on at his $5.5 salary. Yandle looks like a keeper to me. Replace Glass with a guy like Cullen on the cheap who is an actual hockey player. |

Understand the frustration around here, I don't believe they need a full rebuild, they need to retool, trading Nash would go a long way to aiding that, Buchnevich may be and top flight talent right in the system already, Skjei looks like the real deal and McIlrath has been heads above what a lot of us thought he was, a full summer off for the D will only help

At this point you have to consider all trades that will help the team. No player should be off limits. If it makes the team better, got to consider. |

It would be bold but I don't think the Rangers in a position to hold onto to a player like Zuccarello if it gives them what they need: cap relief and a recoup of lost assets. |

If Matt could think about trading Kreider no one is safe. |
