NHLPA will probably fight that to the death, and they should. That's a horsesh!t thing to try and enforce. These guys signed NMC's because, 9 times out of 10, they want to put their roots down in a city where they can have a stable life with their family. He may not care, but the entire existence of the NHLPA is to protect the player's rights. He can't completely blow them off or else he'll have major issues with the union. It's like anything else...unions have influence, whether employers like it or not.

There is a very good possibility the PA will step in and put an end to the nonsensical clause that teams must protect all players with NTCs and NMCs but this could cause a serious chasm which could carry over into the next contact negotiations.

Basically, just another reason to lockout in four more years.

I have no problem with him being paid that money, the problem is his salary in relation to the cap. Baseball doesn't have that issue as they have the Luxury tax.
I think the cap is good, if it wasnt in place the Rangers would be overpaying for EVERYBODY, now they are just limited to overpaying only 4-5 guys
