Boyle was done when San Jose let him walk. AV is a stubborn fool. For two years I was an AV guy. Last year towards the playoffs he started to lose me. Continued to throw a Boyle-MSL pp point out there and it cost them big time. Turning point of that series was allowing Johnson to score short handed on a 5 on 3. This year he jerked around so many young guys for 40 year old dan Boyle and Tanner Glass. What a shame. - Anthony5967
I always thought Rangers signed Boyle for his shot from the point. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone seen this shot? I feel like I missed out on something |

Hate to bring this up, Slim, but if the NYR want to get rid of Nash, why the hell would the TML want him?... what a joke you are... trying to pawn off your crap, usually other teams pawn off their garbage to NYR... Nash blows... Im certain, NYR has no one of interest for Babcock/Lamoriello. - nyrsucks

I know jimbo won't agree, but I'm still pi$$ed Henrik didn't sign for 2 years less @ 7.5 per. Just like I said back then; G and MStaal took 500k too much for 2 years too long. - 21peter
Hate to say it...but you speak of a lot of "shoulda-woulda-coulda".
Not much you can do about the cap situation now. Next season is a different angle, though. |

Yep, the same team that took Laich in exchange for Winnik wouldn't take anyone from the Rangers.

I agree Toronto would not take anyone from the Rangers unless salary was shared by the teams. Toronto is cutting high-end salaries. Why would they take on another if it's not named Stamkos? That's my thinking of it. |

It's going to be tough and a lot is going to hinge on the potential of an expansion team, and the ability of every NHL team exposing specific players, but Gorton really has to burn the phones up this summer. |

Sather waits to sign them until they need top dollar. McDonagh was signed to a steal of a deal though. He did get that whole trade right haha. Somebody had to have forced him to make that deal . If Brass and Zucc ever played with a premier Jamie Benn type that line would be insane. - Anthony5967
You don't get it; Zuke wants to retire as a Ranger. And if you would've remember, he sucked the first few months that year. For him it was a long term deal in NY, a short term deal elsewhere in the east - or to go back to russia... |

I am not referring to Nash's contract; that waste of life stated there's not a single player the Leafs wouldn't take from the Rangers. I wholeheartedly disagree.

I get your point and it's a good one -- i.e., not being viewed as different until they actually came back. But, those teams went into the playoffs strong and they had better overall seasons, so there were some positives to draw off in hoping for a come back. This team really hasn't been consistently good in quite some time.
I'm just not seeing it this year, unfortunately. - Pete V
I'll grant you last year's team was very strong in the regular season and was viewed as the favorite to get to the Finals (and as a Caps fan, I never discounted that the Rangers could come back from 3-1 down) - the 2013/14 team was different. Personally, I remember thinking they had almost no chance heading into that series against Pittsburgh, and downgraded that to zero once they fell behind 3 games to 1. |

Expansion draft should be interesting, if it ever happens. The NHL needs to finalize the new expansion draft rules to implement these NMC in players contracts. Hope they do this soon. It may very well determine what gets done this off-season by many teams. If you are forced to protect a player with a NMC, then you expose young players that you would normally protect. I expect buyouts galore from many teams if this is the case. |

sure I would rather Lundqvist had signed for less, I don't disagree, but that doesn't change the fact he makes more money for the the franchise than he brings home |

Rangers will be at the front of that line.
They can't keep Girardi and expose McIlrath, for example. |

Look it the details of the trade before you interject..., friend.. draft pick, young prospect also went back. From what I see, NYR does not have any drafts picks or young prospects.. |

Hank signng, for that AAV, wasn't the problem it was the length of his deal that is gruesome from a salary cap perspective. As great as he has been, for this franchise, paying him over eight million a season, when he is 37 years old, is going to look really horrific. |

I happens to nearly every team that does fairly well and has a sizable core of young players. After their ELC and first FA deals, they all enter their prime and want to get paid on their next contract (and so they should). It sucks... |

Laich is also extremely washed up. A player like, say Stepan for example, is expensive but is a legitimate top six forward and will be for another five years. |

It's a business world. I blame Sather for that. I don't blame a player for taking a ton of money. He was offered it you really expect him to say you know what give me less. Henrik I expected to take a little less because he really wants to win. He's making a ton and I think you can find 5 goalies right now that are better and rip me for that I just truly believe that. It's not a slap to henrik, he's older now. The team has constantly built around him and to win, the least he could've done was take less. He isn't deprived, he gets paid in salary and endorsements quite handsomely. |

Exactly. They are actually seriously considering forcing teams to use a protect on any player with NMC in their contracts. If they surely go with that, let's hope they throw each team an ABO or two like they did a decade ago. Fingers crossed..... |

NHLPA will probably fight that to the death, and they should. That's a horsesh!t thing to try and enforce. These guys signed NMC's because, 9 times out of 10, they want to put their roots down in a city where they can have a stable life with their family. Making them uproot and move to Vegas, of all places, is complete garbage. |
