No net needed. Lalime was on fire (like 15-0-3) to start his career. Jim Carey won a Calder, maybe a Vezina, too. And Hasek was a second-rate backup on a good Blackhwaks team his first 2 seasons.

Edit: Apparently, yes, he won the Vezina.

Umberger may be a bit faster than Cousins, but I'll take Cousins grit and ability to get under opponents skin any day over anything that RJ brings to the table. But yeah, either way, no point in risking the buyout.

We don't know what RJ is going to bring to the table until he get's a shot to show it. I'm not talking about replacing Cousins. It's Read I think should sit.

Why is everyone so concerned about a buy out for next season when they're in the playoffs right now? 3 million in cap space is not going to be a reason they make or don't make playoffs next season.
