Word, the thought just crossed my mind and I watched Tampa do away with Detroit last night. But again Tampa also has very good goaltending and other strengths.

The Bishop for Cory Conacher trade....

Ottawa must still hate themselves for that.

Risto will get paid this offseason, but it will be good to get him locked up. I am hoping to just pay the man now and avoid signing him again when caps go up and player salaries are higher. Eichel and Samson are a couple years away and IMO that you don't preplan for contracts 2 years away if are RFA. If they were both UFA, I'd be worried too...

We have their rights, they aren't 50 goal scorers and we have the cap space to lock them up. By then Gio, Gorges and Franson are gone...Moulson in his last year.

8 years at 8.5 is different from 7 at 11

he didn't ask about 11M he asked about 10M.

11 million is about 15% of your salary cap on a single player, and together with ROR, you're at 25%. That puts some real ropes around us once the youngins come off their ELCs and enter their prime years.

They are are future going forward. I don't think that Stamkos is an end all to the promised land. 1 top flight winger, 1 offensive d-man, and we're golden.

I used a $77 Million cap, which is up. People going off the books will not affect the percentages - whoever is on the books will only have 75% of the cap available for their comp.

And we can't really say Eichel Risto and Reinhart are going to be great when we want them to lead us to the playoffs and cup, but that they aren't going to be great when we're budgeting for their salary caps.

My point is this - I think Stamkos can get us a cup. I don't think Stamkos can be part of a dynasty. (I don't mind a cup first.)

stamkos is one of the top 5 goal scorers and will continue to be one for the next 5 years, no questions asked

if you want to bank on potential, darcy is your gm

if you want to win a cup, you need a lot more then potential

we have no clue as of now if eichel will be a first line player on a cup winning team, same for reinhart

we have no clue if risto will be a top line d man on a cup winning team

what I do know is the 2006--07 ducks team had perry getz on second line, in their second season and they won the cup

Do we need Stamkos, or can ROR be our Andy MacDonald?

Fair. That being said his defense left a bit to be desired for a true number 1. I liked Myers and honestly if we had him now we'd look pretty good. I'm still okay with the trade, too.
- Zschalberg

The funny thing is, what Myers got run out of town for is what Risto struggled with this year, bad possession numbers and having bad stretches.

I do think Risto is more of an all around prototypical top pairing D man though. Myers is a better 2-3 guy

It's not about being a "Darcy", it's about being great for a long period of time, and we can't do that in the future being handcuffed by Stamkos. Take a look at St.Louis, they locked up Tarasenko long term for 7.5. I'm not saying that we're going to get Tarasenko, but we can get a high end difference maker for a lot cheaper. Signing Stamkos doesn't buy us a cup.

what do you think he's looking for? $6M+ on a five-year deal?
- Michael Pachla

doesn't matter I would stay away from him all together, we don't need him.
