Right, not an even strength blood bath. More like a "let's hold on best we can and hope for a break or two" feel.

But that's to be expected when one is very overmatched.

- Scoob

I thought game one was competitive and Holtby was tremendous in the first. It was severely disappointing to watch them fail to get much if any offense in the last two periods.

Game two was less competitive. It was like watching the inevitable creep of time. I never felt like there was a chance for them to win that game.

Game three can't be described as anything but a complete disaster. You can say they held on through two periods but holding on and hoping for a break before totally breaking down yourself is no way to play the game. That's not the kind of team I want to root for.

Washington is by far the better team. They shouldn't be this much better.

It was nice to see them show some backbone even if they get set ablaze on Friday night.

In fairness.. they really only got torched in one game.
- jak521

They're having the same trouble all season in the third period.

I'd like to play even until the third and then pull away instead of collapsing and/or hanging on in desperation.

Its my biggest pet peeve with this team. I dont understand it. They totally fall apart in the final 10 minutes.. totally get away from their game plan. Hell, how many times this year did we blow a lead in the final minute with the opposition net empty?

It looked bad, but I assume he just got banged up pretty bad. Nothing broken, but might be concussed.

OT: Did anyone see the Indian guy sitting front row against the glass where Laughton went down? He is a FANTASTIC trauma doctor down here at Penn. Soon as I saw him I started cracking up. Figures Laughton would suffer a "trauma" in front of him.

- jak521

I noticed the guy. He had a smirk on his face and kept covering his mouth to talk to his son (what it looked like) as if he knew exactly what was going on or had an idea of Injury.

Every time we face a team 6-5 and opponent goalie is pulled, I fully expect the other team to score. Been a trend the past couple seasonsit seems for us to just be terrible in those game situations.

Ek?

Seriously, no one could honestly say they thought we would win the series.

Hell, I thought going 6 games would be unlikely. Almost there!

- jak521

I was hoping they would get a game, maybe two

It really would be one of the biggest hockey upsets I can recall if they somehow won it without MDZ and Couturier -- not because we are awful, but as has been noted, I wonder if people truly have accepted how good Washington is this season

No they don't because that 1 goal changes everything. If Manning doesnt take that penalty, the game is tied at 0. Voracek doesnt make that risky play because there is no pressure to tie the game with less than half a period to play. The Flyers could steal that game.

It seems pretty horrible. I don't follow college football, but it seems like the top 2 guys are the next Joe Flacco/Matt Ryan, not the next Montana, or even the next Romo.

The idea that the best team in the league this year by far wouldn't be favored and likely dominant over the team with the third lowest number of points among playoff teams is just gobsmackingly silly. Anyone who saw this team in October and even thought they'd make the playoffs would have been referred for evaluation. This really is a bonus. The best part of this was (and likely will remain) the amazing run we saw that got them in. What I thought was going to be a brutal season ended up being fun. And that really is enough this year.

And still, I wouldn't mind having a game to go to Sunday.

- bodiva88

Yes and No. While it was clear throughout the regular season that the Capitals are a pretty special team...I dont think you can look at the Flyers Caps matchup and just say okay well this is the best team and this is the worst team in the playoffs. They had to dig themselves out of a hole from what they were early in the season but have been playing like more than the 8th seed for most of the season.

I think it's a good attempt to land a potential franchise QB. If either of those two QBs don't turn out to that, then we're screwed. And we shall continue to be angry Eagles fan. But I think the dots are looking like they are connecting nicely... Pederson first year QB, we have 2 veteran QBs (one who knows Pederson's system/style) and if we keep them both (most likely) then the drafted QB has two guys to learn from while not being rushed to start for a poop team like a lot of rookie QBs have to go through. We haven't had our consistent go to since McNabb and this could potentially solve that issue for many years. IF it works out.

Joe Flacco still has a super bowl. And Matt Ryan has been a pretty damn good QB most years. Whole organization has consistency issues. You don't necessarily need that Montana or Romo for super bowl. Flacco and Ryan are both still franchise QBs which we desperately need.

Matt Ryan was a fantasy disaster for me this year. I picked up Bortles after someone dropped him so it was OK, in case you were worried about me.
