so many nyr fans whining here about the letang slash. I mean ye it was bad but staal was just as bad if not worse considering he hit sid TWICE in the NECK on a guy that have had 2 really bad concussions...
- martox

The funny thing is that there are almost as many Islander fans here whining about it as there are Ranger fans. Maybe the Ranger fans hired them as mercs? Either that or they get board trolling the 3 Florida fans who inhabit this board.

If you can make your way through the BRACKET OF SHAME, I hope we are waiting at the other end.
- Emperor Filonius

Haha seriously. The Detroit Red Wings are making a Stamkos and Stralman-less Lightning squad look like cup favorites right now. The Atlantic side or the bracket is horrendous.

The Atlantic is what it is. The SHAME is referencing the Islanders and their cowardly ducking of the Pens. It was their right thing for them to do, but they still must live with it. I don't know how they sleep at night.

Anyone think Geno will figure out how to thrive under Sully's wing?

Yes. I'm fully prepared for him to suck this entire series, and he might not even be great for the entire playoffs, given we go any far, but then he'll have a whole offseason to figure it out. If everything swings right, he'll also have Danny Sprong on his flank next season, who is a much better fit on his wing than anyone we have right now. Martox and I were talking about it the other day. This year is amazing and we could very well make it the distance, but next year is going to be even better.

They may actually..but none of them seem to be here. THis site is definitely populated by a disproportionate number of folks from the old Patrick and Adams division teams. There are other pockets, but Ek knows where the most eyes are.

You seem to forget that tomorrow night's game will be the 16th straight for the Pens playing the Rangers.

No...you stole my fun Pens fact of the day for tomorrow

Again, back to that tweet I pasted, if that is Maatta standing there instead of Stahlberg, I guarantee Maatta gets a stick in the face. This all happened in .02 seconds while Letang got his stick lifted and checked into the boards. He wasn't suspended. Neither was Staal. Move on already.

He had 13g-18a-31pts in 29 games under Sullivan before his injury, I think 1.07ppg is more than enough to say he has already thrived under Sully's wing.

Their stadium was at 90% capacity at best for the post season opener. Cats fans are not many.

difference between Staal and letang - Staal's action were intentional. Letang was tied up with another guy when he swung his stick and its far tougher to figure out intent.

Letang slash isn't as bad as Duncan Keith's and his history is lighter. Keith got one game so a suspension on Letang at worst should be 1 period.

Can only hope to cut Kunitz, add Sprong, draft some talent, add another Cullen/Comeau type signing or two and keep chugging along. We don't really have any notable UFAs that could leave besides Lovejoy and Cullen.

Playoffs are a different animal I can only hope that if we meet in the finals Fleury is net.
If we did not have NAbakov in that series a few years back we would have won no problem.

- kasperrko

You had a backup sitting right there on the bench, why didnt you out him in net and win the series? Or did you mean if you had a world class goalie like Lundqvist then maybe you would have won? See the thing about sports is, you gotta win with the team you have not the team you have plus a couple players from other teams to tip the scales in your favour.

Havent read through all the comments yet, but I dont think Letang's high stick is even close to suspension worthy. He got hit as he was along the boards and his stick was up, so his caused his stick to stay up and drive into someones face. He didnt slash at the guy.

I think it deserved a penalty for sure. Someone getting hit in the face is never good (even on a follow through), and you shouldnt have your stick up like that.

But suspension worthy? Nah.

I'm gonna start a new blog title, Rick Nash should be suspended for his flying shoulder block last night, clearly intent was there, for he left his feet to deliver the hit!

I'm amazed this got glossed over. Nash supermanned Daley. If we lost and RW or any of us made mention of that we'd be accused of whining and making excuses

Exactly, no one has said a word about that hit, I'm just glad Daley was not injured.

If you look close at Rick Nash's lips as he is flying through the air, he yells "For I be the Flyin Dutchman!" It was really hard to see but in super duper slow motion, in hi Def and 3D, you can see it.

This is a bad angle and it's still clear targeting. It looks much worse from the front

Blocked here at work, tried to get it on my phone. If it is the same one that I saw on my phone he is clearly jumping.... is there someone on the ice between the two of them below his feet that he is jumping over???
He almost jumps and lands on TOP of him.
