If a sellout crowd at Wells Fargo Center is 19543 people, then by my math, 0.005% of that crowd rounds up to be just one person.

But this looks like a lot more than just one wrist band.

And...

Looks like the percentage of knuckle dragging embarrassing fans is a LOT higher than that.

Toews and Kane dont have a single goal in three games, G and simmer arent the only superstars being contained in the first round.

It's easy forget now that until Couturier got injured, Manning got a cheap penalty, and the Caps got a lucky, double deflection goal that the Flyers were hanging really tough.

I'd be shocked if RJ wasn't bought out.

Yep -- sometimes you bite the bullet, eat the cash, use the roster/contract slot on someone who can help you

guy has played one game, albeit a completely meaningless one against a team made up of over half AHLers, in the last 2 months. regardless of a spark or rally point he provides to the rest of the team, doesnt mean hes going to perform well. in fact, id go so far to say that we would have let up more goals without mason in net.
- sjk540

Mason does not look right to me the last two games. I'm all for getting a change in net. Do I think it HAS to happen? No. But I'm totally open to it.

I don't care if people think special teams are the difference in this game, they're not. We're holding on within an inch of our lives at 5 on 5. One mistake we're scored on. Take away one of our men with a penalty, we're scored on. All these outside shots even if we lead in shots means nothing.

Hak doesn't wanna make changes and adjust, we were dead the moment game 1 began.

- SuperSchennBros

I agree with that. People say the Flyers are doing well/great with 5-on-5 but I don't see it that way. I think they're hanging on. Their even strength scoring chances aren't numerous. Holtby has had a very easy go of it thus far.

[quote=jak521]Schultz has been the best d-man, and it isnt even really that close./quote]

This is true.

Nick Schultz has been our best defense.

Nick Schultz. Nick (frank)ing Schultz. He has been our best defenseman.

Nick Schultz. Seriously, Nick Schultz.

Hey, you don't have a 1000 game NHL career and the respect of your goaltenders by being a slouch.

Why?

Primarily because he is our starter. His play single-handedly got them a playoff spot with that stretch run. The team has scored 2 goals in 4 games. Despite the weird 5 hole goal, he has been shellacked and still has stood on his head for the most part.

If we are pointing fingers, Mason is the last one to be pointed at.

Wanna make changes? How about we dont sit on our (frank)ing asses while shorthanded. How about we shuffle the PP up... A PP that has been abysmal for about 3 months.

How about we put Medvedev.

There are probably 15 changes I make before taking Mason out, and putting in a goalie who hasnt played in over a month.

Mason doesnt look right. You are absolutely right about that. He is shell shocked. You could literally have a Brodeur/Hasek/Roy hybrid and we would still be getting crushed.

4 even strength goals in 3 games, and two were ones he would like to have back.

Carchidi says Schenn and Voracek swapping spots.

Sam Carchidi ‏@BroadStBull 1m1 minute ago
Looks like Schenn will go to LW on struggling top line, replacing Voracek.

- MBFlyerfan

I understand Voracek's been dealing with an injury or may not be full-strength after the injury, so I think this is the right call

Why are you talking about Mason here, I was talking about Medvedev getting in the lineup. I am all for Mason playing tonight and am upset he is being sat, but my comment was about playing Medvedev, maybe i quoted the wrong comment.

i guess we've all been off our game...

Some may argue, but I agree. They have been hanging in there pretty much for the first two periods of all three games. I think it's something to hang your hat on, as a team that eked in on the 2nd to last day. However, you don't win series by hanging on for two periods. You might win a game. Maybe two. But you don't win the series, you don't move on, and you shouldn't expect to make any noise if you somehow moved on.

The Flyers aren't ready yet. That's OK with me. I'd still love to see them win today. I'm sure the young guys would gain some valuable experience from seeing what it takes to win an NHL playoff game; not just skate in one.

Why are we assuming 100% of the bracelets thrown made it to the ice.
- all-pgh

The one that hit me didn't. But I estimated when I was there it was about 100-150, so I'm not surprised at the number they gave. And who knows they didn't count the ones they cleaned out of the stands, some of which may have been discarded without being thrown.

I saw plenty (At least 50+) make their way from the 2nd level and fall short of hitting the ice.

Holtby has seen 93 shots so far. Only two goalies have seen more shots than Holtby in the same amount of games (3).

He has made some seriously stellar saves (alliteration). He is very calm, and gets great support from the guys in front of him. But there have been long stretches of 5v5 play where the Flyers have been very good.

Our lack of PP scoring, and our terrible PK have been our undoing.

"spine-chilling pregame tribute"

Yeah, I specially got chills with the: "Fvck The Pens!" part. Just...Chilling.

Damn, you'd think Bill was channeling his inner Coatesy with all the delusional homerism being flung around like bracelets in this story.

Yup, if it wasn't for some bad bounces, bad officiating and just plain bad luck, the Flyers would clearly have a 3-0 lead in this series. No doubt. The Caps are one fortunate team and don't know who they're messing with. Flyers just playing rope a dope is all. They'll win this in 7 just like they did against Bahstin!

Duh Duh Duh Duh Dada Duh Duh Duh Duh!

Flyers have played well. Without looking it up though, I bet the Caps have far more high-danger scoring chances. With a little luck, Caps have been able to bury their chances. Flyers, while generating a high shot volume, aren't seemingly as dangerous offensively.
- Blackstrom2

Actually 28-26 in favor of the Flyers at Even strength

68-59 lead in scoring chances as well.

So maybe other players should play better.

Streit has been nothing.

Gostisbehere has been containted

MacDonald has been "meh"

Gudas has been doing his part except for some questionable penalties.

Manning and Schultz have probably been the best dmen. Also Manning seems to be pushing to puck offensively and doing well. His shot was the reason for the goal in game 3.

- J35Bacher

Manning can't handle the pace of the games and is only staying above water by being glued to our best possession dman Gudas. Schultz has barely played at ES, and the PK is a disaster so how has Schultz been the best dman?

http://www.nhl.com/stats/...ggregate=0&teamId=4&pos=D

Manning getting far more ice time with the top line than Ghost, our best offensive dman by far, is yet another strange move by the rookie coach. Both PPs are struggling, there's no ES scoring, but we leave Medvedev's hard shot and playmaking skills in the stands. At least this way Hak won't have the hassle of coaching games in May for the first time.

Question for all: Who in your opinion has stood out and played well for the Flyers in the Playoffs? Who has raised their game to an acceptable level from where their baseline play is for the post season?
- flyguy12

That's an intricate question -- I don't think anyone has been super

But I haven't minded Schenn's game. I think Gudas has been fine, relative to expectations

I'm not too hard on rookies. Ghost, Cousins, even Manning, have shown signs of improvement at various points

The fourth line has been decent-to-good. Gagner has tried to compete

Haven't loved a lot of other guys, but at the same time, this Washington team is a different beast altogether that they're trying to skin

Still completely disagree...

Also, on the Ovechkin goal. While it is a goal you want him to stop, it happens pretty routinely in the NHL.

Happened last night to Crawford. Same location on the ice, same snap shot, beat him glove side low, just like it beat Mason.

Other similarities? Elite shooter taking the shot. Tarasenko took that shot last night.

- jak521

I love Tarasenko so very much. What a sniper.
