Well aware of straw man, ad hominem, and a lot of the other logical fallacies. Thanks. - wolfhounds
Seems the concept of insinuation blew right by ya.
I'm accusing you of advancing the "straw man" argument. No one:
1.) Wanted Neuvirth to fail
2.) Called him second-rate
3.) Claimed this game would be lost on Neuvirth's back
If you read back, you'll see that the majority (if not everyone) stated that it didn't matter who you placed in net; the team was playing so poorly that goaltending wouldn't make a difference.
If you want to claim that the team played much better than game(s) 1-3 because they were in front of Neuvirth; well then there's not much we can do about that. I think most logical people will point to: better play all around, aggressive PK effort, capitalizing on the PP, and keeping the physical play up while not taking dumb penalties.

the caps are an outstanding team. top to bottom. it's irritating as hell.
still. would be nice to see our top guys remotely threaten some offense...at least make the other team work hard to prevent them and wear them down. they've been flat out invisible. - hammarby31
Yup. The whole idea of shutting down G, Jake and Simmonds basically means the line the Caps put against them is consistently outworking them, and that shouldn't happen shift after shift, game after game. Sooner or later, you need to fight through it and make things happen. |

I thought C. McDonald held his own tonight. Thoughts for those who watch the details more closely? - jstross
He's a tough cookie and he was hitting people left and right.
Otherwise? Meh? That 4th line was a dumpster fire in its own zone, but it was with Belly too. They definitely missed his speed on the rush and forecheck. They got way too much ice time late I thought. It also felt like they saw an eternity against Caps top 6. |

staying out of the box, imo, was a huge factor. i think they had 1 or 2 all night. not exactly a shock they won. they've played them even or outplayed them at ES.

You mean Voracek, right?
Because Giroux and Simmonds were obviously on the scoresheet tonight?

This is the first game the first line didn't have the pairing of Streit and Schultz primarily on the blue line. Hakstol changed it up and had Ghost and Amac out there with them. Its not like the Caps are killing the Flyers 5 on 5 with chances.
Would I like to see a little more? Sure, when this series ends it will be because the special teams were abysmal. |

I was being sarcastic. I don't think I created a straw man to beat up upon, but if you do, fair enough. I was here during the day and read a lot of the posts of the people who were, for whatever strange reason, upset that Neuvirth was getting the start. Some didn't feel he deserved it. Some felt it would hurt Mason. And some just didn't want a change. And you can be damn sure if the Flyers lost, there would be some comments about who started in net.
I personally didn't care who started, thought it was perfectly fine Neuvy got the game, and am happy we won. |

Michael Barkan is unbearable. I've thought it before but I'm annoyed enough to say something. He is either a complete knob or he is just reading off a list of lazy narratives and firestarter headlines just to start outrage and play towards the uneducated.

Good win for the Flyers. Neuvirth is such a gamer. Manning with his best game in the O&B. Gudas was a warrior all night. Hope the kid is all right. Heck of a spill. Raffl was gangbusters tonight. |

Never called anybody a troll. And I certainly never told anybody anything. I was one of the people calling for Med, not Neuvy, but the change in goal didn't bother me in the least based upon this season's performance from our keepers.
It's more about making changes, something Hak seems reluctant to do until it's damn near too late. He clearly doesn't like Med even though I think most of us would call him more of an offensive threat than half the D crew. I'll be curious to see who is in/out next game. |
