Ugh, I was at that game. - nastyflyergirl
me too. last flyers game i ever saw in the spectrum. wilsonecho was there too. i had to drive back to vermont after that game. it's amazing i didn't get 97 tickets and kill 47 people in the process. one of the angriest days ever. and i mean ever.
Really makes you wonder what the refs were looking at. Stalberg's reaction is usually enough for an arm to go up.
Just read that he will not receive any supplemental discipline. Again, what are these people looking at? At the very, very least Letang should lose some money. That play is worse than Keith's slash, IMO.

I've been to enough games with you to get how angry you probably were.
I feel bad for Mason, Flyers rode him into the playoffs. He hasn't played particularly well in this series, benching him for this game kinda scapegoats him a bit. I understand starting Nuevirth, as a coach you have to do anything to try and win.
Oh well, I would like to see them win the game tonight. Make Washington close it out at home. Winning tonight saves face a bit from the debacle game 3 was.

Very fair assessment.
I also feel sorry for us as fans because our expectations weren't high, and the team was living up to them by competing hard even if they couldn't buy a goal, and then the wheels came off in the worst way. First the Couturier wheel, then the Mason awful-goal wheel, then the PK wheel, and finally the discipline wheel in game 3. Now there are no wheels left. Apart from Weal.

I don't think sitting Mason in favor of Nuevirth is scapegoating Mason. He's definitely not the reason why they're in a 0-3 hole. Has he been lights out? No, definitely not. But it's really hard to win a game or a series when you're special teams is God awful.

That is all true. The Flyers have played competitively at ES. To say the special teams has been abysmal would be an understatement.
Watching them sit back on the PK and Carlson and company dissect them like grade 7 biology experiment has been brutal to watch.

Only to the uninformed and who cares about them anyway?

It's pretty much the most brutal thing I've seen in years, in playoff hockey
I don't know how many goals they have to score on the PP before they make Backstrom give up the puck at all times, but we clearly hadn't reached that magic number on Monday

absolutely brutal. at some point you would expect someone on the PK to do something other than stand there and act like a worthless shot blocker. it's like Torts on steroids.

To me it looks like his butt end gets caught against the glass and forces his stick forward.

i know you think you know, but it was worse. i was in my early 20s...the rage was just off the (frank)ing charts. i'm not kidding when i say i'm amazed i didn't get a ticket or hurt anyone with my car. seriously. it's a (frank)ing miracle. i should not have been driving. and not that far.

I still don't understand the game plan. In order to prevent injury, I'd rather my guys go out and pressure the puck every chance they get than stand there waiting for pucks to hit them. After game two, this should've been clear. Letting Nick Backstrom skate around in low corner with the puck on his stick for 15-20 seconds is absolutely absurd.
