I used to love the Clash.
At least for me, the music just doesn't hold up anymore.
I wish it was otherwise, but other than Lost in the Supermarket, I'd probably hit skip on every other song on London Calling. - Atomic Wedgie

Strummer was a yuuuuuuuuge Thatcher fan. - 1979AD
Elvis Costello was a huge fan too. Wrote a nice love song to her, "tramp the dirt down". |

I've almost entirely lost interest in punk music over the years. Used to love it. |

I used to hate punk music, then when I discovered early 80s punk and hardcore I liked it. Then I forgot it existed for a long time. Then I discovered some of the very extreme versions of modern hardcore punk and started loving it again.... man the things they call punk these days are unrecognizable. |

I love Guns of Brixton. One of my fave songs ever but a few of the references are lost on me. Train in Vain is a great song (to me anyway).
Recently, I've been listening to Sandista a lot. Haven't really listened to it much in a while. Love that album |

All great but the best anti-war song is still the simplest - Blowin' In The Wind - Canada Cup
I can’t remember anything
Can’t tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I’m waking up, I cannot see
That there’s not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Back in the womb it’s much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can’t look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I’ll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Now the world is gone, I’m just one
Oh God, help me Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, help me
Darkness
Imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Landmine
Has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell |

U2 became intolerable after Achtung Baby. Anything post 1991 is garbage. |

That's fair.... downward descent begins after Joshua Tree, but still tolerable IMO. Then comes Zootopia or whatever the (frank) it's called |

I could still listen to any of the singles from Joshua Tree.
Man, I remember when that thing came out - it was yuuuuuuuuge. Holy poop, their songs were everywhere.
After that, maybe they just got too mainstream for them to be cool for me.
I'm taking a quick peek at their singles on Wikipedia:

Not much I would still want to listen to after The Joshua Tree.
Maybe Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. Maybe Beautiful Day. |

There's still some good rock out there. Just not mainstream.

Some mentioned Tool, I wanted to like them, some lyrics are exceptional but the vocals don't do it for me. Can't get past that. |

Hard to like new rock but Queens of the Stone age are still solid. I guess Black Keys are good. Wait both these bands are over a decade old
I haven't liked a band that's gotten radio play that's been formed in the last 5 years or so other than Ghost |
