I'm confused. That's exactly where French put him in his merged draft ranking.

Laine and Punjabi for their international tournament domination is my guess. Also I would think Laine and Marner are pretty similar talent wise though obviously Marner is more well rounded in the offensive zone.

Do you think the fact that they play in a Men's league factors in?

That's a bit high... I'd have him 6th or 7th

The three guys ahead of him last year I still have in front of him and Matthews and at least one of the Finns ahead of him from this year

I just think Marner has proven more than the two Finns and should be placed higher.

Problem with marner is 3/4 of the poop he gets away with against teenagers is not going to fly in the pros.

The Finns got some major hype going on. Wonder how Punjabi will do at the U18's after doing so well at the U20's.

All juniors players that are elite level talent have done the exact thing that Marner is doing in their Junior careers, to single him out is ridiculous.

I don't single him out at all.... I think that of most juniors... It's why I loathe the transfer agreement... I think it should be modified so that so long as a player plays at least one season of junior after he is drafted (barring making the NHL team) then he should be allowed to step up to the AHL.

I believe 100% that Marner is pro ready, but not NHL ready

McDreamy - drafted ahead of Marner
Matthews - you think would be drafted ahead of Marner
Eichel - drafted ahead of Marner
Laine - you think would be drafted ahead of Marner
Punjabi - you think would be drafted ahead of Marner
Strome - drafted ahead of Marner
Marner

Yes, including 3 players (McD, Eich, Strome) who the NHL drafted before Marner already. Add to that the three players in the current draft you agree would go before Marner and there he is at #7.

You're accusing Marner hate, when you have the exact same opinion of him compared to 6 other players.

I don't get the dangling fever from him as much as say Drouin. It's overblown with Marner, he goes to the rough areas despite his size.

I'm pointing out that all the dipsy doodle stuff is nothing new to all elite Juniors, they do it and have done it for decades.

And I agree, there should be an elite exception that they can go to the AHL.

I don't see how Laine and Punjabi or even Strome is higher, sorry, Marner to me is more skilled and talented, it's the height that people are in love with the two Finns.

Laine also has scored a goal a game in pretty much every international tournament and holds the record for most goals scored by an U18 player in SM-liiga playoff history. Just saying...and he's 6'4 boom!!!!!!!!!!
