Exactly

But at the same time, slow to start his career, inconsistent, never really played with a contender or pushed his team over the top.

I just can't shake that feeling, the number three pick could be the pick that is the worse out of the top 7.
- LeafMan

true enough.... but hunter knows how to see potential... its why the knights are good year after year

my favorite part about this years draft? the round two pick... you know hunter likely has a list of at least 35 kids who he could see going in the first round... that second rounder of the leafs will be on par with a late first

I'm really looking forward to see what kind of D we come out of this draft with in the first 3 rounds.

They have two second rounders or three if you consider the Pens pick.

Which will be parlayed into 8 3rd rounders!

12 picks, I think they will trade a few to move up.

3 Centres
3 Dmen
2 wingers
1 goalie.

I personally couldn't even predict positions, depends on who is available. I don't think they're going to start drafting based on need personally.

That will be the breakdown using a scientific formula.

this i why i like the current setup... shanny overseeing hunter, who is one of the best guys at finding young talent around, dubais, who is one of the best analytics guys, and LouLams... a hall of fame GM

you bundle all three of those perspectives together and this is why the leafs keep finding good players with later picks now.

which is hugely important, since once the leafs become successful they wont be picking top 5... back third of each round hopefully tbh. having guys like that who can find players without having it obviously spelled out to them is going to be a huge advantage moving forward.

Nielsen's adjusted D+1 production is comparable to notable D such as Hamonic, Weber, Boychuk, Pietrangelo & Seabrook

So I have a keeper league. It's positional and points only for scoring.

For RW's I have:

Wheeler
Simmonds
Jagr
Atkinson

Who do you keep?

I'm currently looking at keeping:

Burns - as a D
Josi
Ristolainen
Hall
Steen
Tavares
Mackinnon

Notables:
Brassard
Carter

I'm leaning towards Wheeler and using Atkinson/Simmonds as trade

are you not considering the jagr effect which is the ability to play hockey forever?

Usually those teams that are winners have a few second and thirds playing a key role.

i think under this management, the leafs are drafting based more on player tendencies and raw skill set.

which is breath of fresh air from the burke "we draft based on character" approach

Except in the playoffs. He's gone 25+ playoff games without a goal. Crazy eh?
