You want to build Blackhawks style? Well hire someone who can (frank)ing scout talent.

You can't build Blackhawks style when all your draft picks are 3rd and 4th liners. It's not like free agents are lining up to sign in montreal either.

If MB don't start getting creative with trades the prime of Price and Subban is going down the toilet. May as well trade them both along with patches for a truck load of talent and then talk about building Blackhawks style

and once Weise is back in the fold, old Bergy can get to work on negotiating Desharnais' extension. can't let a guy like that get away.

In order to make a trade you have to have something that somebody else wants.

Don't understand why MB says you can't make trades for top 6 forwards in today's game. Maybe get a new scouting and developing staff that can get you some valuable assets that teams would want in a trade. Nikita Sherbak looked great for 2 games in St johns. The rest he looked like a piece of poop. You would think with all the call ups he would take advantage. Awful defensively, turnover machine but that can be fixed. What can't be fixed is he is the laziest human being I ever saw in my life. NO CARE factor. Zero.

and you know whats funny? Timmons drafted Juulsen because he says he was very familiar with him being Sherbaks teammate. He said he saw him a lot last year while scouting Sherbak. Excuse me moron but why the (frank) you scouting Sherbak after you already drafted him?!?!?! Do something useful and go watch eligible players. You know like the time you traded up to get Tinordi while you could keep your two picks and draft TWO of kuznetsov Toffoli and Faulk? Genious

Look at the playoffs. Nashvilles top 3 forwards johansen Forsberg and Neal were all acquired by trade

Dallas has Seguin Spezza and Sharp all acquired by trade.

Blues 2nd line of stasny steen and Brouwer were not original blues

- QuickSCF

They were not scouting Scherbak. Lapointe's job is player development, and he probably noticed Juulsen and told his scouts to check him out.

At least Weise looks like crap in Chicago so that should rule out his 3 year 14 million dollar contract this summer LOL

I saw some blasphemous suggestion that MB would trade Subban and keep Therrien. If he did that, I won't watch another game for a very, very long time.

Like, a whole month.

You want to build Blackhawks style? Try tanking for 4 or 5 years.

Chicago's deadline acquisitions included picking up a couple of bottom-6 forwards from the last place team in the league, and they wonder why they're struggling?

DID THEY NOT (frank)ING SEE WHAT MONTREAL DID LAST YEAR AT THE DEADLINE WHEN BERGEVIN HAD A BATPHONE RINGING DIRECTLY INTO TIM MURRAY'S OFFICE??

Maybe they could just suck less at the draft.

« C’est dégueulasse ce qu’ils ont fait à Jeff! Le droit de rire des BS, des écolos pis des personnes mortes, ça fait partie de nos traditions, ici, à Québec. C’est pas vrai qu’on va laisser une gang de bobos nous dire ce qu’on a le droit d’entendre à la radio, [censuré] », vociférait un homme dans la trentaine, tandis qu’il fracassait les vitrines d’une boutique de vélos avec sa pelle bleue.

That should have happened but price was too good.

HAbs should probably have Galchenyuk + Barkov/Mackinnon as their 1/2 now and traded Plekanec this year rather than sign him

My point is that thinking you are going to achieve the same amount of success as the Blackhawks just by drafting players 25th-27th in the first round is a pipe dream.

They're toast.

This was their last shot and it's caught up with them.

I didn't like their deadline moves at all from the outset. That core is aging, and the supporting cast is dwindling. They might get another shot or two, but the end is near IMO.

outside of Toews and Kane, which Blackhawks were lottery picks? Montreal has 2 lottery picks in their organization as well with Price and Galchenyuk. Chicago isn't better than Montreal because they tanked. they're better because they're a smarter, forward-thinking organization.

For sure. My point was simply that it would be nice to be able to get someone for the top-6 with their first round choices every once in a while.
