I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that both the eye-test and #fancyschmancy analysis show that he is a top-10 goalie.

he failed one eye test last game

I meant the Players. They say it's 45 minutes to an hour by train. Games days are all day. They train in, practice for a half hour, eat at the rink, have day rooms at a local hotel/motel then head back for the game, train home at the end of the night.

Doesn't sound ideal.

From what I understand most Rangers players chose to live in Manhatten since their HQ, practice rink and home ice are all right there.

The Isles HQ and practice facility are still in Nassau.

First of all, Lets go Flyers!

Secondly, at the beginning of the year that's what the Isles players were doing... they were having morning skates at the Barclays and then going to hotels for their naps and poop. About a month into the season they asked if they could do the morning skates in Nassau since most of the players primarily live out in Nassau. This way they can all go home afterwards and do their routines... The Islanders also still have the hotel rooms for some of the players because some of them preferred doing that. There are express trains, I'm sure they take and they are only 40mins or so from Garden City (where they take train) to Brooklyn.

Rags practice up north of the city in Rye, NY for years before they opened up their new practice facility in Greenburgh, NY (about 45min drive north of the city.)

Thirdly, the Barclays was never designed to be a hockey rink... They adapted it as much as they could that's why the scoreboard is over the blue line and there are limited view seats all of the place. Also the reason why Tavares had to wait for a whistle before he could go back to the bench. All in all, the Barclays is still much nicer then Coliseum and its starting to feel more and more like home but its 100% better then the team moving to Kansas City or Quebec.

Now back to my first point...

Yeah the eye test of allowing a bad goal from center ice. The eye test that Roenick and Milburg regardless of how you feel about them couldn't give him credit. The eye test of a very slow first half and Neuvirth saved the team's bacon. How many of the other 58 goalies outside of our own do you watch with regularity?

I’m not mocking Mason, he’s burned us more than not for sure, it’s just whoever made this one did a fantastic job because I didn’t see that coming

I'd be on board with sitting him but if g Voracek Schenn and Simmonds don't take this to another level it doesn't matter who the 6th dman is

I agree. A lot of focus (especially up here in Kanida where the narrative is that the Flyers haven't had a tender since Hextall) is on the Mason goal, but he could give one of those up a game and it wouldn't matter if we were scoring 0 or 1 goals.

Sadly, this first round is reminding me of the '02 Ottawa series. Won the first game 1-0 and then only Ryan McGill could score after that ...
