My speculation. No sky falling because today none of these players are impact players.

Burrows: Regardless of who we draft will not be back. 4.5 cap space for fourth liner is too much.

The Draft: We will take a forward even at #6. Hearing more and more of that. It does make sense , seeing no Dman is a true impact player.

Hamhuis. He does not fit the movement of change for Canucks. No contract talks to date. Benning has already made two moves ( three if you include Tryamkin) for next year , none of them to do with Hamhuis.

Demko: Benning goes to the Frozen Four to see his two top prospects, and hopefully sign Demko to solidify things. Does not talk to Demko the whole time down there and two days later is in the running for a out of nowhere attempt to sign the runner up goalie. My gut feeling Demko will be dealt at the draft, luckily we have Markstrom.

- VANTEL

I think top 5 you're right.. Matthews, fins, tkachuck, Dubois, and then a D man.. What forward do you think at 6???...

And hamhuis completely agree with you.. But demko I still think signs. I think the other goalie is just a Utica move

Where does Shinkaruk fit in on Canucks roster.
- VANTEL

He probably doesn't. But the reason I never liked it was because of the timing.. There was no rush to trade him for the return we got.. I understand he said he tried moving him for a D man and there was no bites. But with the way he was playing wasn't it worth letting him continue to play in Utica and up his value for a trade down the road? That's my only thoughts on it

I am not an Edler fan, but do realize at this time he is the best. I hope in the next 3 years we can change that.

Benning will handle it.

Kassian HAD to go. You are using hindsight my friend...Benning didn't know Prust would get injured and become terrible...normally he would be worth a 3rd
- CanuckDon

The big part of JBs term so far I like. To me his weakness has been how ineffective he has been at TDL. Two years in a row no moves. That needs to change IMO

Damn it how could I have forgotten that we own the team and need to scrutinize every detail of the plan....and I'm not just talking playing styles...there's gourmet hotdogs that need to be agreed to as well.

Pfffff, gourmet. Mine only came with a single scoop of caviar.

new 7 round draft by some guy.
Liked how in the 7th round Brandon Crawley.
“Crawley is a tenacious defensive defenceman who also showed the ability to move the puck well as the season went on in London. He loves the physical play although he is not overly big. He adjusted well during his OHL rookie season to the speed of the game and could have a big year next year on what will be a strong London team.”

6'3" 198 lb. Yeah he's not overly big at all. You have to be tree sized to be considered big now a days? Average D is about 6'1" or something.

People blame whatever the going flavour of the day is,

Coaching, WD dug his own grave here as soon as he didn't sign up to Hockeybuzz to take advice from all here, same with the media. My goodness how can anyone be successful if they don't follow Gallagher or Botchfords rants, not to mention super duper advance stats Canucks Army website.

(frank) injuries or 35 different players or 9-10 rookies, plain and simple that WD decided to try coaching all on his own, which was a fatal error on his part.

Now should we determine what the blame is for the forwards...Burrows without a doubt, defense all on Hamhuis, goalies well that has to be Miller even though Markstrom has worse numbers.

- Makita

While I do like MAcT I don't think WD is going anywhere it was more to get things going around here. WD would really have to $hit the bed to start the season but I think they will be fighting for a playoff spot pending we are healthy and he will still be the coach. I do think he needs a better cast of help for special teams and defence. I don't think he is the greatest coach and needs to improve to have success in the NHL. Gulutzan and Lidster however I am not a real fan. Lidster reminds me of Ryan Walter on the bench. Most of the time I would say injuries are not an excuse but 35 different players is ridiculous and that can't be blamed on the coach.

Yeah Sbisa

Stecher, that's something that can be still learned to use your body better. Not all D have to be physical, just play smart. Probably could use a D with some smarts. Could use him more as a 3rd pairing and a PP specialist till he learns more. Edler staying healthy is huge for the D. Not everyones favourite player but can still play.

- manvanfan

Stecher is physical...he is just not a big guy. Great on the boards despite his size

Benning will have to do something about the depth if that's the case. And try and sweet talk the league into a better schedule (might want to let Linden handle that). Injuries were ridiculous this year but they're always an issue. If the Canucks go into the season relying on health we're done.

Do you think Benning negotiates a swap of players and then Benning demands they take one of our picks? Do you know how negotiations work?

I think its REAL easy for you sit behind a computer screen and act as though negotiations for trades are an easy process, not factoring into account term/dollars/clauses and the going rate on the market at the time of the trade.

We got a pick back in the Sutter deal. How does Benning get a 3rd and a 7th for an undrafted goalie?
