Kassian HAD to go. You are using hindsight my friend...Benning didn't know Prust would get injured and become terrible...normally he would be worth a 3rd
- CanuckDon

Yeah this trade has the benefit of hindsight, but at the time no one else knew of his substance issue. I just have never liked Prust, I thought he was worse than Glass so for me thats why it was bad at the time. Now with the benefit of how everything played out, I am still a little disappointed that it was a 5th rounder to get rid of a problem. It gets my pick for worst only because I dont mind most of the trades

Finally getting around to watch the u-18 game Cdn vs Cze.
Hear Fabbro and Jost's name a lot. Hajek defensemen for Czech has had a real good game for the Czechs. Chychrun has been rather unimpressive.

lol we should move on from the Granlund vs Shink thing. We were doing soo well of not talking about it. This is exactly what I meant manvan when you bring up nearly every trade, out of the blue, you are going to open up a can of worms.

Benning has also been very clear in his goal of becoming a younger, faster team.

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/v...er-more-physical-1.294716

So, by logic, trading the younger, faster Shinkaruk for the older, slower Granlund seems, well, strange.

- nucks_94

It may seem strange to some fans, but I'll trust the professionals on this team, they have all the information and have discussed it amongst themselves, all the fans have is the trade announcement and 1 game as a Canuck. As for getting younger, Kassian was younger than Prust. Under Benning the team has gotten much younger.

Did I say he was slow? Comprehension? Also, Granlund is older and slower?
- CanuckDon

Yes... he is.

Maybe he'll run into Kassian there.

No you said he had no speed and no shot. Backtracking a little are we?
- thundachunk

I didn't say he has no speed...I said small stars have speed and a good shot. Sorry, I should have said "good speed" so you weren't confused. I think Shink is an average skater at the NHL level. Move on

When Benning stepped in there was tons of holes and concerns. The fan base wanted younger faster bigger stronger. He came in to a lot of aging players with very little in the 20-27 year range player. He has been here two full years and we now are looking more like we wanted to when he took the job.

He has had some missteps and bad deals , but he is trying . Clendenning is a prime example of trying to fill the void and yes even Vey, but when he realized it didn't work he went out and tried again.

Building a winner is a lot harder than most think it is. I like what he has done in two years and am very excited about year three.

So what thats what we are here for to debate our opinions and call each other out when we think the other is wrong. Keep your feelings off the buzz. Fyi only I am right and I have no feelings.

You are bang on ASL. There is a reason we are working 9-5's, discussing the aftermath of their work and not making the actual transactions for the Canucks. These guys are professionals and know what they are doing. We can argue until we are blue in the face, but ultimately hold no power. Benning has a goal, he has made it public, but we are not in management and should not speak as though we should be, cause we clearly are all only arm-chair GM's.

It's a hockey forum, to discuss Vancouver related hockey things. It's the offseason, where generally you look back on the year that was. I'm not arguing about these trades and who won or who lost the trade. I think every team makes good and bad trades.

I can change the subject to how Van is going to sign Stamkos. It's going to happen, dude.

haha Chunky, I didn't know you had feelings? Too many truffle shuffles my friend! I am all for debates, I just want some decent reasoning and logic behind the person who is willing to spark it.

Fair points. They probably should have waived Kassian instead. It's funny because Habs fans loved Prust

The Canucks knew. Some of the fans like me knew. I don't mean just hearing rumors from other fans either. There were a lot of loose lips in the organization about this. Even in the head office. I heard it from a close friend who is a Canucks employee and from my uncle who was friends with a couple of the Canuck suits.

Kassians main problem was booze but like so many people who binge on coke, they can say no until they get booze into them,,, and then they cannot say no.

I do like how he can stickhandle in a phone booth but if you are wrong ,you are wrong. He creates chances but we are lacking finishers and he also is not a finisher.

Hey all I'm gonna be in the lower mainland (Langley/Surrey and Port Co.) for a few weeks starting this weekend...any recommendations for excellent Pubs or restaurants around there? I usually have a few on the radar but always looking for new places...
- LordHumungous

Trading Post brewery just opened up in Langley and serves pretty good beers. Their taphouse opens in May, so if youre still around it might be worth checking out. In Surrey Central City isn't bad place for watching the games and Taphouse replaced the old Mirage nightclub

The rest of the decent places in the area belong to Joseph Richard group, so you'll see similarities between them all, but Edith+Arthurs, Townhall, Oak + Thorne, The Henry, etc. good food, solid decor/atmosphere at them all

EDIT: The Hub in New West is worth checking out as well

I am on the fence about this one. Reason being is I don't want to put up 12 million per for the next 7 years. Someone is going to pay it and they will be capstrapped for the whole 7 years.
