As an outsider who doesn't really care, I'll just say that RNH is NOT a defensive player or a winner. He's the type of player you find on the top 6 of mediocre at best teams. He's very talented and he will forever show promise and sparkles. But if I were edmonton managment, I would put him at the top of a trade-for-D list. |

i don't beleive the oiler finished with the most man games lost - derm10
I think they did, but if they didn't they definitely did in quality of man games lost. 52 games sans their top Dman, 31 without their third best, 13 games sans Eberle, 27 games sans Nuge and Pouliot, 37 games sans McDavid, and a bunch more lost on depth players. |

Well go check it out.
I believe NJ had more games but Edmonton had the highest amount of impact player games lost. |

The Seguin move concerns me a little bit, but remember he traded Kessel for Seguin and Hamilton in the first place. How quickly people forget - 6ringslowe
Not exactly. He traded Kessel for two 1sts and a second. A great value obviously but nobody at the time entertained the possibility that both picks would end up in the top 10.
He was lucky in that respect. |

Both impact guys. But there are some who have made metrics for it to try to quantify the quality of the minutes lost. Edmonton was at the top back in February for sure but may have finished a bit lower.
Point is we had a lot of high impact guys out. If not the most close to it. |

Now you're being a jackass. If you look back myself and others have said it's not an acceptable excuse. |

You're free to have that opinion but players of his style are seen all around winning teams. Stepan (2C), Granlund (2-3C), Datsyuk (1C), Ribeiro (soft-comp 2C), and Nielsen (2C) to name a few. They're all smaller players that play a slippery playmaking game and contribute on defense (with the exception of Ribeiro) by using their stick. He's not the elite #1 like Datsyuk, but he's no far cry from Stepan or Nielsen. He's also younger than all of those mentioned. |

If they trade Nuge I hope it's to the Leafs. But we don't have what they need in return. I like Ebs too but our D is also weak. |

Good GM's tend to get "lucky" more often than bad ones though, wouldn't you say?
What I mean by that is good GM's see value when they see it, having that foresight gives you more opportunity for moves to work out in your favour.
Examples:
- Ray Shero trading Alex Gogligoski for Matt Niskanen and James Neal
- Chiarelli trading Phil Kessel for the 2010 first, 2011 first and a second
- Steve Yzerman trading Cory Conacher for Ben Bishop
If nothing else though, I'd prefer a wheelin and dealin GM rather than one that does nothing, because doing nothing so far has gotten us nowhere |

Man either you're intentionally obtuse or you're trollin. If Nick Bonino got injured vs Sidney Crosby got injured, which would have a bigger impact on their team? Or are you one of those guys who needs numbers to make every argument make sense for you? |
|

If you want to use it as an excuse, sure. That having been said, your team lost 42 games of JVR, 15 games of Komarov, 25 of Bozak, 5 games of PAP, 6 games of Kadri (were any of those scratches?), and 3 games of Gardiner. The primary thing being you guys had your top-3 D healthy for the vast majority of your year whereas our team didn't. |

Because I figured I wouldn't need to name the other two as I listed their games lost, but evidently I should've guessed you didn't want to do any research of your own to try to understand our team's roster better. See, normally when you come in to another team's thread, you assume a certain level of responsibility to put in effort to understand the opposing team and their situation. |

Only bad teams argue over who had the most injuries. Last year it was the Jackets excuse for their troubles. Look at the pens and bolts... They just keep playing. |
