You wonder if playing every game like its a playoff game for the last while has caught up to them.... really need the W tonight if they want to stand any chance in this series...

I was wondering if it would end up being a positive or a negative for both sides. For the Flyers, playing every game for the final month like they're playoff games gets them ready for the playoffs but can prove exhausting especially combined with their schedule. For the Caps, not having played a meaningful game for a month allowed them to rest and relax but could have resulted in rust.

The first period definitely favored the Flyers, but after that the Caps showed their dominance. Let's hope the tide changes tonight.

Manning being a fixture in the lineup no matter how bad he plays is frustrating. Medvedev is our 2nd best PP QB with Streit struggling and he can't even get on the ice.

If you didn't feel good about Laughton replacing Coots then this quote should put you at ease.

As long as this series isn't anything resembling the 2002 playoffs against Ottawa, I'll be content.

Team USA vs Sweden is on this afternoon on NHLN if you are convulsing waiting for 7pm and would rather impale yourself than watch Rangers-Penguins.

Gives you a chance to watch Bellows and Brown among others (like Clayton Keller...my god was he amazing last game. Button guaranteed he'd be better than some players drafted ahead of him. Hard not to agree...he just has "it"). I watched last game and thought Brown was a bit underwhelming, except in the o zone. He's very good (idk what his ceiling is, not sure it's higher than 2/3C), but people who expect him to play like he's 6'6" will be disappointed. Soft hands though. Bellows was awesome. He's everything you people on the board clamor for in size, IQ, and finishing ability. He shoots from everywhere. Kid is flat or hungry to score.

First thing that came to mind the moment the third period ended.

Oates.

Didn't realize that Read and Simmonds make almost the same amount of money. Well Cap hit at least.

Seems insane.

Raffle's cap hit over doubles next year. Ew

Love Brown. I think he's already very good and barely scratched the surface so far. But would be very happy with Bellows, too.

I like him too and would be happy if he's the pick. Seems to be a riser (which could mean he's not there). I've seen a few of his Windsor games, so I know what he brings.

My main point was that I think a some people view him in the mold of a bruising powerful center bc of his size, when in reality he is a playmaker and uses his body to shield but doesn't initiate too much contact. If he's physical, it's in the way someone like Coots is. He's actually quite finesse.

May have to package Brayden Schenn with him in a trade just to get out from that albatross.

Initiate. Not retaliate.

Stop with this high and mighty of playing noble. They have shown time and time again that with no emotion, they falter. Engage in the chippy play, and initiate it. Stop crying to the refs, they will call penalties regardless.

Game 2. Get it done.

Flyers will need to outwit the Caps' collapsing D 5 on 5, too. They surround Holtby like the Secret Service on a threatened President. Have to draw them out and sneak someone into the slot, a la Briere...

I was expecting to be a shootout but yeah, it's been a defensive battle. Schenn, Simmonds, keep theowing the body and aim hard at Ov.
