Cause you're you 0-25 in our arguements

Im re-posting this just because i want an opinion on it.

My take on it is this..

In theory its understandable why some may think thats a smart move for the Leafs. But i think its a horrible idea. They could get more from ARI than Dvorak and the 4th. The question of "is Matthews better than Dvorak and Tkatchuk combined?" Isnt that simple. Its not even a given that both of those guys would produce more than Matthews. Every team has a set amount of forwards, so if we got Dvorak and Tkatchuk you have to consider thats two roster spots instead of one. Whoever ends up playing with Matthews is going to be a good player so the equation would look more like Matthews + player X vs Dvorak and Tkatchuk.

Theres actually a significant difference between a good player and a very good player.. thats gamebreaker ability. I would rather at this point have a very good player join the Leafs opposed to two good players. It's kinda like saying would you rather have Stamkos or Kucherov and Palat? The latter two may combine for more points, but they aren't elite. They aren't gamebreakers.. (kuch is a playoff savage tho). The Leafs already have the bottom 9 players they need. Marner will create chemistry with anyone he plays with. I think people put too much stock in junior line combinations. Trying to be greedy and more out of the 1st pick by trading it would be a massive mistake and Leafs management would never go for it. If you have a chance to draft a talent like Matthews you do it.

It also wouldn't speed up the rebuild as both those players would some more seasoning (tkatchuk in london and Dvorak with the Marlies). Matthews would step in immediately and contribute. Matthews would instantly make the players around him better and also attract decent FA's to want to sign in TO. Theres many spin-off effects going the Matthews route. Thats why i think the Leafs wouldnt consider it unless it was an offer they couldnt refuse.

They should keep mathews instead of getting dvorak and tkazuzkzk (or something similar)

i agree with you. Get the big centermen.

there are no locks in sports.. but a 1-2 of stammer and mathews seems... exciting?

To be fair, people who aren't racists probably aren't big fans of being called racists either.

I'm not so sure about that. It seems, at least in the U.S. everything now is about race. Probably no bigger scarlet letter, other than being a pedophile, than being called racist. Fairly or unfairly.

Here's the deal. If you make a racist comment and you get called out just own up to it and say yeah, that was a poopty comment, I shouldn't make jokes like that. Getting all defensive instead is a very common thing to see from someone that is actually racist.

It really seems to be. And in many cases, the concern is very much warranted. Such a shame.

That was sort of my point, you can't assume someone is a racist that easily. But we have a personal responsibility attached to the things we say or put in print for others to read. And it's pretty simple, don't make disparaging comments about people loosely tied to race and you won't be judged.
