but...at what cost, even if they're available?

Seven Letters.

STAMKOS

Did I do that right

- SDSabre

Still not sold on Stamkos, everybody assumes that he'll be fine after that surgery, on top of the fact that they should paint a bullseye on his jersey under his armpit.

To counter your argument, I would think he would have to me medically cleared by a physician that he's seeing, most likely top of his med class somewhere very expensive and prestigious. If there were risks, they'll be well known by physicals and such. I don't know your path in life and maybe you are a doctor, but you aren't his. His doctors said the surgery was a success and he'll be good to resume playing.

Tampa's back up goalie had the same exact procedure done and he was back on the ice playing in 6 weeks.

This isn't like a blood clot in a lung, people hear the term blood clot and freak out. This is nothing like McCormick's issue.

I'm not a doctor, I only play one on T.V. , I'm just concerned that he won't be the same player (aside from being a rib short) as he was before.

Also, (correct me if I'm wrong), I don't believe his cap hit would count in the worst case scenario where it becomes a long-term issue that threatens his career. Wouldn't he go on IR? In that case it would just be Uncle Terry's money out the door without strapping the team.

If you don't give up assets to give him, there's no team risk associated with his condition...other than the Pegula pocket book, which is damn-near impenetrable.

yandle fits second pair d men, you can make a case for first pair
stamkos of course can fit anywhere

I am not impressed with much other than them for UFA's

we are at a point where trades will need to be made to get our list of 50 signed players down a bit and with the plethora of 3rd/4th line players and 6/7 d men a few 2 or 3 for 1 trades will probably need to be made

- homiedclown

Ew. Overrated, overpriced, and is dreadful at defense. Pass x 100

His cap would count during the offseason but then he would go on LTIR...again not a huge issue.

If anything having this procedure done will give him better range of motion in his shoulder area...the second best scorer of the last 5 years has been playing with a shoulder not fully functionally...imagine him with a better performing shoulder...

How many F spots are truly available for Sabres to sign FA's such as McGinn, Okposo, etc. and to possibly sign college FA's such as Vesey and Caggulia, and possibly via draft if we get lucky with a lottery pick?
- riptheguard

It doesn't matter nor should Murray not go after as many of these guys a possible just because he has Larsson, Gionta, Girgensons, Moulson, Foligno, Deslauries on the team. Anyone of those players would easily be above all of them on depth chart.

I'm going to play devil's advocate on Okposo. He's a career -60 ,hitting 27 goals in a year once, playing a majority of the time w/ Tavares. Didn't we already do this w/ Moulson???? Gotta be better wingers available in the 6mill range.
- bobmack13

Also had his retina detached last year (maybe the year prior?)

It would cost roughly one poop ton but if he's available Id make a push for Hanzal.

Really? I like him, but he's almost 30 and hasn't played more than 64 games in a year in 6 seasons.

He just checks off a lot of boxes for me. He's been the yotes version of ROR for a while now, pts and games may not be there but I feel like that might go up with less responsibilities here. Kind of guy you'd want in the playoffs. I think his cap hit is pretty good too.

I keep seeing things saying Vesey wants to play with Jack, but the only guy cited is Joe Haggerty. Is this just bull, truth or as usual somewhere in between? I thought Boston TO were it...

It's not rumor, it's speculation. Boston is his hometown area and Toronto is where his dad works as a scout. It's as speculative as Vesey wanting to play with Jack.

I can see TM going after Hall or Eberle, I think he's trying to build a core team that can play together for a while before we see anymore older guys signed... but if he gets what he wants as the "core" I could see things changing quickly.

Personally I think he is going to try and pull something major again this year to get the team where he wants it, That could be stamkos or a dman or both... should be fun to watch it unfold though. Only 15 days till we find out where we draft.

hall has the speed this team really needs
jagr has everything you want for the second line
pacioretty IMO is the missing link for the top line

I think we can expect 3 impact players via free agent/trade this offseason

If this happens there is no doubt in my mind we will be a playoff team and possibly contending for the division if the goaltending holds up!
