Official. I guess considering how bad it looked, could have been worse. Was thinking that would end his season.

Injury Update: Forward Sean Couturier will be out two weeks with an upper-body injury → http://bit.ly/1M8Z4Vo

- PLindbergh31

Not to rave about an opponent, but that hit man. He was skating alongside Coots and just shoved him off the puck. I can't even get mad at him. Don't get me wrong. If anyone has him lined up in the crosshairs, go right ahead (I'm looking at you White!). But just goes to show you how good of a player he is, and how dominant he could be if he didn't take off during shifts.

Means he could be back if the series goes 6 or 7. Tall order but time to solidify the second line in some other way. Adding Gagner on the right side is not the answer IMO.
- Baxter27

The biggest key not having Couturier is staying out of the penalty box. He's their top PK guy, putting the Caps on the PP continually will be a disaster. We all know Couturier isn't a great offensive player, his loss is much more hindering on the defensive side of the puck.

I want to subtract.

Read, Streit, MacDonald, Umberger.

I hope you want to subtract because that makes the Flyers better.

In what world does losing Streit help? I hate the Manning vs. Medvedev as much as the next person. It doesn't mean I want both of them on the ice....

Any word on black aces or am I completely late to the game?

EDIT: Hahha not completely late, just a minute.. damn you.

- jak521

Bill said black aces would be announced at the conclusion of the Phantoms season.

Umberger is the two of hearts.

Streit, for his cap hit, is bad. He was never fast or noted for his defensive play, but he always was good with the puck and put up offense. This year, his speed/defense have stagnated if not regressed, while his play on the other side has been nothing short of awful, compared to what it has been. I gave him a pass when he first came back, but he's been just flat-out bad for months. His play doesn't come close to justifying his cap hit. He's been playing at slightly above Nick Schultz level.

Definitely. It wasn't a dirty play at all. Nothing to be mad at. Ovechkin is probably one of the stronger players in the NHL, Couturier has been a pretty fragile player, not a surprise he was injured.

Medvedev is probably not back as he is a UFA and Manning is an RFA.

I think Alt could be signed to replace Manning's role.

You also probably have Provorov next season. And with a good camp you could have Hagg or Morin.

While I understand Streit's veteran presence but he has looked different since that injury and I think that's really hurt him.

I think I would be more inclined to see Medvedev in for Streit. But that wont happen.

I don't even know about that. Schultz I think has been steady recently. I actually think Streit is the weak link of the two.

I'm not one for fancy stats, but Streit has passed the eye test just fine. I don't like him so much on PP2, but he's not a liability. He's a +3 in the season since coming back in January. As long as he stays healthy, he'll be a fantastic trade chip at the TDL next year.

I think that is a safe assumption. He's been a healthy scratch almost half the games. Hakstol doesn't trust him.

Can't wait for Provorov, and Del Zotto to get back, because I can't watch Manning anymore.

He only lead the team in 5 on 5 scoring this season, but we won't miss his offense much because the rest of the guys looked so dangerous at ES last night.

Yeah. At first I thought it was his wrist. If the Flyers somehow miraculously advance past this round, he would have a chance to come back, although who knows at what strength. Taking faceoffs taxes a shoulder big time.

I do not vist the fancy stats pages, ever. Not one. I rely mostly on the eye test, but do find that the fancy stats so sometimes agree with what I see. He has, to me, just been plain bad. His decision making with the puck has regressed heavily since last year, and he's not offering enough defensively to make up for it. Just my take on him. If he was making $2.5M or so, then whatever, but he's not. I'd move his ASAP.

5 on 5 scoring, or 5 on 5 scoring per 60?

The offense was anemic. His loss will be felt in all situations. IMO it will be felt more on the PK then anywhere else.

If I had to guess with no trades next seasons defense:

Del Zotto
MacDonald
Schultz
Gostisbehere
Streit
Gudas
Alt - In Mannings role
Provorov

Not sure Manning is resigned.

Kind of why I feel a trade needs to happen in the offseason
