Isn't he also the turd that heckled Snider during that press conference after they hired Berube?
- TobyFlenderson

Yep, about the need to change the culture of the team.

What does one good teams management of the cap have to do with a league wide virus of bad contracts and poor money mangement? I don't even begin to get your counterpoint.
- mayorofangrytown

I guess I misunderstood. My point was every team plays under the same salary cap. Having incompetent management is a huge factor in building a team. The large market teams just can't eat their mistakes anymore.

It's coming.

Konecny, Lindholm.

Also a big reason why I would make a play for Stamkos over the summer.

you'd tie up 10 mil in Stamkos, with all the kids coming up? not sure if thats a good move cap-wise. plus, blood clots arent anything to mess around with, although letang looks 100% since.

Salary cap? Look at the Caps roster, where are the bad contracts?

Thin lineup, that much thinner without Couturier. Remember when everyone was pumped when Read was re-signed? Those people have gone the way of the Edsel.

I think they made the playoffs by in large with smoke and mirrors. Which says a lot for Hakstol. The roster has a lot of major holes.

I always thought to trade high on him since his age and his best skill was speed and stuff that doesn't get better.

MJL would always argue about you don't trade 20 goal scorers and he was the important player.

He seems to have gotten slow and just isn't offering much anymore.

Yes I would.

There is no timeframe or promise all these kids make it.

He isnt a guy that is going to lose you a hockey game though...he is still a very smart player and good in possession. The problem has been that he is just not helping offensively

So what the move. Laughton comes in at 3C I guess.
- MBFlyerfan

i would honestly move schenn back up to 1LW, bring Voracek down to 2RW and go:

10 - 28 - 17
21 - 89 - 93
12 - 52 - 24
Untouchables

Laughton has some serious underrated offensive prowess and speed, we could use him on the second line with two other solid playmakers. although they wouldnt have all that much defensive talent, the third line would have to take some of that responsibility back

And the old management made a number of both good and bad signings/trades. The new management has been doing its best to operate a different way.

So, what is your point, besides AMac bashing?

As was I. He had 3 good seasons and I figured that he'd have a small drop off, but not many expected this drastic of a drop. His defensive play is still very good, but his speed and scoring have taken a nosedive.
- jmatchett383

without his speed and scoring I just don't think they can carry that cap hit. 2 more years left on that deal. Imagine, he is making about 300K less than Simmonds. the tale of one really good contract and one not so good

I miss the days where you could bury contracts completely in the AHL. annoys me they did away with that.

He's just going to have be a very expensive 4th liner for them starting next year.

I Think Hakstol needs to balance the lines as much as possible with Couturier no longer an option for the rest of the series. Put Jake back where he is comfortable and reunite Schenn and Simmonds.

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Laughton-Schenn-Simmonds
Read-Cousins-Gagner
VV-PEB-White

Continue to match top lines and hope Laughton, Schenn and Simmonds can make Kuznetsov uncomfortable. I would say Flyers had the edge in the bottom 6 forwards category last night.

Just curious as to why you believe the flyers have the edge in bottom 6 forwards? Imo that's where were vulnerable. They are bigger and faster in that bottom 6. johansson and that 3rd (4th?) line made the game sealing play

is this sarcasm? the reason you cant is good for both players and teams. GMs spend more wisely for the most part and a player doesnt get jammed into the AHL just because of his contract

I think Jake and G need to have a reunion with Jake In his comfortable spot. Maybe G can get Jake going again. Even if he's just setting him up with passes in his wheelhouse to get shots fired on Holtby to build confidence. The need for Jake's old form was a key discussion point yesterday, and it has become even more important now with Couts out

right but thats not necessarily a bad thing...you dont notice him...that means he is not putting goals in or generating a lot of offense but it also means hes being sound defensively

Yeah, well, I guess my point was there are about 8 teams who've manged themselves well and are cup contenders. The rest are either wilting on the limb and capped out or trying to rebuild through the draft and dump bad contracts.

In the muck and mire that makes up the rest of the league a team like the Flyers can make the playoffs off of a couple of good months of hockey. That's all it takes to edge out teams like Boston and Ottawa. They're all pretty much the same.

It takes real effort to be as bad as Toronto and Buffalo and truly crappy management to be as bad as Edmonton and CBS.

Small market teams.

Not sure how it wouldn't help big market teams that can afford it.

Alzners deal was an unbelievably team friendly deal when he signed it and it still is. I recall being outraged the caps got that number

That agent should be fired
