Lets cheer for the Rangers, to beat the Penguins and take our chances. I'm sure someone good will fall between the cracks, like they do every year. Maybe this player could be that player. - PrinceLH
They've played 6 series and the team that won the first game has won every series.

If that is the case, then there should be another decent forward dropping down further into the middle of the pack. Take the best player available. - PrinceLH
Not a bad strategy, but depending on where the pick is (16-30), I don't know who will be left or much about how to rank them. My rankings always tend to lose confidence after around 8 or so. Assuming the standard order (unlikely):
TOR = Matthews, EDM = Laine, VAN = Pulja, CBJ = Tkachuk, CGY = Chych, WPG = Dubois, ARZ = Nylander, BUF = Juolevi, MTL = Serg, COL = McAvoy... after that I basically just have no better guess than CS NA order.

I think so too... that and there's a few teams who need D badly enough to make it happen... - lumlums
After having a good look I think you'd be lucky to get Bean with Pitts pick and McAvoy will be gone (he really rose in the ranks). Dante Fabbro and Logan Stanley are more likely options by the looks of the rankings.
But at the same time, some teams are bound to go off the board and pick from the second round stock in the first round like Boston did last year.
How can someone hate on futbol, the most beautiful and entertaining and competitive sport in the world... and go on to say they are a baseball fan, literally the most boring game in the world. You're a true American, bud. - domi_legend
Easy there Mr Komarov > Kessel...
I dont know how being a soccer fan makes you more unamarican opposed to being a baseball fan.. more Canadians play pro baseball than soccer.
Sometimes I dream of what once could have been if I could pick a pairing. For one, Sundin and Iginla. Both in their prime would have been a great combo...amazing combo. The other that I often dreamt of, maybe not the best on ice production, but the all time best interviews with media production. Burke and Tortorella. God damn that would have been a daily influx of golden anger.

If you had the two of them in a room being interviewed by Larry Brooks, someone would not come out alive.

Can't wait for the Euro this summer - domi_legend
Is it wrong that although I am horrified by all the worker deaths, yadda yadda yadda, I am secretly thrilled with the idea of a World Cup throughout the Christmas season?
It's nice to see that Nikita Zaitsev is a right shooting defender. If he's as good as many say, he slips right in, beside Morgan Rielly, on the first defensive pairing.
In regards to size, yes, we do need that. I'm hoping that they package up some of our secondary young players, like Lipsic and or Kapanen, to either move up in the draft, or get us a young goaltender, to upgrade our goaltending. We have an oversupply of young wingers, with talent. Keep the best and repackage the rest and fill some holes. We have lots of draft picks and lots of decent young talent to make this move. - PrinceLH
I don't mind moving someone like Kapanen to upgrade. However I feel a need to get another young high quality D-man. So we would need to look for a team that needs a young quality and has a few quality D-men.
I think Carolina fits that mold. They are a rebuilding team as well. They have a number of quality young D-men already play on the team but are fairly weak on the right side wing.
So my proposal would be:
Toronto trades:
K Kapanen
R Valiev or Wash 2016 2nd rd pick

I saw some analysis (forget where) that showed Mikhail Sergachev as being slightly better than Chychrun, just without the fanfare... could be a decent pickup around the 10-15 mark. - lumlums
Some scout from a team in the top 7 has Chychrun 4th among D. Juolevi was 1st, Sergachev 2nd and some big WHL guy I think was 3rd.
