I have heard his dad is a big Canuck fan, so it would be pretty exciting if his kid was getting ready to sign with his favourite team and worthy of a countdown. But who knows really, maybe he's going on holidays and Canuck fans are just crazy?

Fin stays with them in the off season.

First
Vancouver Canucks

Second
Arizona Coyotes

Third
Colorado Avalanche

I like this one. Trade down to 2nd and get Strome as well.

- Retinalz

I am curious why people keep mentioning trading down from 1st and adding Strome. For arguments sake, if AZ is in top 5 no way do they swap picks and throw him in, but say they are in the 7-10 range, why does Van bother doing it? If Matthews was born a few days earlier he would have gone ahead of Strome in last years draft. For a team that has really lacked an individual star since Bure, why not take, keep and build around the best player in the draft?

We would add more than just a 1st in getting strome obviously. We would try to do this as Strome will still be a 31 center int his league one day, though not as good as Matthews, but the Addition of both Stromg/Laine far surpases the benefit of Matthews for us. ARZ looks to do it because at the end of the day, an NHL ready future superstar who is from there will bring butts in the seats.

McKenzie: Troy Stecher may be most pre-eminent college Free Agent

Bob McKenzie says new Canuck Troy Stecher is a bit undersized but is a good, mobile puck carrier. Bob calls Stecher "a really good prospect" and suggests that, other than Jimmy Vesey, Stecher may be the pre-eminent college free agent available this year. Bob also suggests that Washington & St. Louis have done a very good job of adding key pieces around a veteran core and may be better equipped for a deep run.

I tried to clarify that there is zero chance a trade happens if its Strome and the # 2 or 3 pick, for #1. As much as the homegrown superstar factor plays into it (which is less than a successful franchise - see hockey in the state of Florida right now), they would be giving up 2 lottery picks for 1, thats just poor management. Also throw in the fact of how high a lot of people are on the Finns, it doesnt make sense to give up Laine & Strome for Matthews.

My comment though was why the mentality for some fans is to settle for Strome at C when you could have Matthews. I just think after 40 years of zero 1st overall picks, Vancouver deserves to get the first pick and the most hyped player rather than move him for guys who werent the top of their draft classes

If Strome and Laine is far better then Mathews, why would Yotes trade them to us, let alone the same conference?
Fantasy trades like this are for leafs thread only.

What is wrong with that? It is not as though we have a locked prospect with a ceiling of bottom 6 potential right now anyway?

The Canucks have proven to be a good goalie development team. Even though they end up fugging it up in the end, they do get their goalies to the big show.

Demko should sign, and develop as Cory Schneider did.
