Hamhuis is still quite serviceable. I wouldn't hate if he did come back. |

I am the opposite. This is the softest, lowest scoring D in the league . He doesn't put up numbers, he is old, slow, and he is not a tough guy. |

Today is the day Demko's dad may have good news? Either that or he's the biggest troll since Douche Bagalow? |

You still need guys that can defend. Our D didn't do a lot of that either. I don't expect him back but I wouldn't be upset if he was, particularly if it was for low term with no trade protection. |

I am not convinced brining Hamhuis back helps our team in any way at all. Unless they want to teach guys how to not score. I love Hammy and I remember how happy I was when we signed him but I think it's better for both sides if he finds a good team to go on a run with. His time here is done. |

I agree on Hammer. Really could use a Off. Dman. Really Hutton has taken Hammers job from him. A Healthy Edler does help. If he can stay healthy! |

Isn't that what Tanev does? We have a bunch of players already that defend/chase and don't put up numbers. Edlers numbers are declining. Tanev Doesn't put up Numbers. Sbisa and Biega don't put up numbers and Tryamkin will probably be a defender also. So you want to bring back another player that doesn't put up numbers? |

Who is out there available that can score and bring points? Nobody. We don't have the ability to go and get a Hamonic.
Edmonton does. If they targeted UFA Hamhuis and traded for Hamonic they would make the playoffs. Solid D core solid 2 lines. |

I think Edler has been overworked and relied on too heavily which is why his offense has diminished. We need another guy playing top minutes. Our D is a joke. Even with Tryamkin and Hutton making good strides this year. Stetcher and Larsson are what we have coming in next year. I think those additions make guys really work hard in the offseason to make camp tough on the coaches. If the D remains the same expect another terrible year. They were the worst part of the season by far. |

Given the number of games Edler has played his numbers are not declining, not going to do the math, but they may have been better this year. |

This. The biggest problem with our D this season was health issues, forcing us to put poor defensive players in the top-4 (sorry all you Hutton d-riders, but numbers don't lie). That being said, these older guys are getting a bit broken down, when's the last time Hammer played a full season? I'd like to see someone that can play d come in to replace Hamhuis that's younger and on the upward trend. |

The good thing is Canucks have realized how inept the defensive scoring is ,and their last two signing and drafting address scoring.
You are wasting one of six spots on D with a guy that is not tough nor scores. You can us his spot at least to address toughness. Canucks do have pieces to make a trade whether they chose to go that route or not is a different subject. |

he's only 29. very reasonable contract. If his season starts off well. I would be very open to trading. |

Hasn't Traymkin already addressed toughness?
I agree about scoring, no denying that. Schultz 2 milx2 see what happens. |

You have defend/chase like they are the same thing. Hamhuis and Tanev defend, Biega and Sbisa chase.
We were a bad team pretty much across the board except for goaltending and actually playing defence might have been our worst area, so yeah, for another season or two I would have no problem bringing Hamhuis back.
But I also don't think that we are a few pieces away from being a playoff team so having a couple of defenders that can actually play their position and help keep games close so that our young guys can develop in a competitive environment isn't the worst thing IMO. |
