You have defend/chase like they are the same thing. Hamhuis and Tanev defend, Biega and Sbisa chase.
We were a bad team pretty much across the board except for goaltending and actually playing defence might have been our worst area, so yeah, for another season or two I would have no problem bringing Hamhuis back.
But I also don't think that we are a few pieces away from being a playoff team so having a couple of defenders that can actually play their position and help keep games close so that our young guys can develop in a competitive environment isn't the worst thing IMO. - CubanBuffet
If you keep wasting spots and cap space on players like Hamhuis and Burrows you definitely will be in the bottom of the league.

Mogilny should be in the hall. - thundachunk
I loved him when he was here. Definitely a great talent.
I suspect the only reason he didnt get the same level of regard was we already had pavel ...less shock seeing someone play like that |

Chara was around 24 when he really started to show his true self. - manvanfan
Let's not compare them just because of the size. Don't get me wrong, I hope they have Tryamkin watching a lot of Chara tape. He's still in the lineup next year, which is the bottom line. Not really sure what else to say about it: if he's in the lineup, the lineup is tougher. One of my favorite momnets of the season was Tree dropping Kesler like he was a child. In what way has he not already added toughness? |

That'll happen if you rush young players into the lineup or rely on them to play minutes that they aren't ready for as well. |

I have no problem with this line up.
Don't take stock in which line is first second or third. Horvat needs someone defensive on the wing to help his offence excel. - manvanfan
I have a problem with putting a rookie on the top line in his 1st year. As much as I like the finns, no rookie should be given a top line right away. |

Whoever we get I agree, putting them in the first line is an Edmonton move. Let them grow behind the pro's for at least the first half of the year. |

Today is the day Demko's dad may have good news? Either that or he's the biggest troll since Douche Bagalow? - WhatTheNuck
I think he was merely counting down to the fact that Demko is announcing that he's playing for the USA at the IIHF. |

The good thing is Canucks have realized how inept the defensive scoring is ,and their last two signing and drafting address scoring.
You are wasting one of six spots on D with a guy that is not tough nor scores. You can us his spot at least to address toughness. Canucks do have pieces to make a trade whether they chose to go that route or not is a different subject. - VANTEL
Just so you know I don't advocate hamhuis returning. I am all for change. |

If you read what I have been saying I am not suggesting putting young players in their spot .
I would replace burrows higgins with McGinn and Martin 26 and 27 years old.
On D I have been saying most of the year a guy like Jordie Benn would be a nice add for bottom pairing instead of Hamhuis or Sbisa. I would try to trade something like Tanev Hansen Gaunce for Myers |

What difference does it make if they can produce?
Rookies, regardless of the title, should be placed in a position to not only develop, but succeed, and the line order should not matter.

McDavid has enough talent to play on the 1st line on the majority of NHL teams right now, let alone EDM. |

You are missing the point . Hamhuis and Vrbata cap space is 9.5 mil. Burrows and Higgins cap space is 3.6 if bought out. That is 13 .1 mil you are freeing up to improve your team and you come back with Burrows Hamhuis Larsen and Stecher.
I would fire my GM on the spot if that was his solution.
