Thx Taco, I was just looking for that article. Should be better next season with the goalie padding changes.

I still think it would be a mistake to give up on him...

...IMO the ceiling for Girgs is higher than the ceiling for Larrson

EDIT: But I know on this board after a 10 game stretch where a player doesn't play well he's a bum and needs to be traded

Lion's scoring slumped when his shooting percentage dropped from 13% to 7%.

This is pretty relevant, in light of that stat:

Season League Shooting Percentage
2012 9.11%
2013 8.89%
2014 8.90%
2015 8.91%

EDIT: The real questions are - with other higher talent scorers in the franchise: (A) do we NEED him to be a 13% shooter, and (B) are there other guys with similar skillsets who will cost less???

Just how much are we expecting him to request after making less thank 900K this year and the down year he had? i don't see him getting more than 1.5 per on a 2 or 3 year deal

Ya ikn Lioneater had a down year..the 10 game stretch thing was more of a comment on the tendency of certain individuals on this board to overreact at the slightest hint of adversity

You mean like in December when people were saying the team would finish no better than last year?

i keep hearing he had a down year.. this is essentially his second year in the NHL.. can it be considered a down year when we don't have a true sample size? maybe last year was his career year..

anyway, i hope he returns to last years scoring

We can pay Larrson and Legwand for what it would cost to keep him and they both can do the same thing.

He's got his "game face" on 24/7. That's why he was such a high pick.

With Girgensons raw ability, I think I could confidently say no. Under a million for a guy who realistically can get 30-40 points a season if placed in the correct role. His major issue (like Larsson's last year) is that no one including himself knows what the (frank) he is. Once his role is clearly defined (something I'm sure will happen before game 1) I believe he'll be a much more effective player. It's really hard to place him in my mind. He's not really a long term solution in the top 6 and he's not really the kind of guy you put on your 4th line. I imagine he turns into a Legwand once he hits his 30's, but now I think he's your prototypical 3rd line utility guy. Center, wing, mostly a 3rd line guy that can fill in on the top 9 in a pinch. He's actually a pretty valuable player that had a down year. Unfortunately with that 3rd line all but locked up for next season, it's again difficult to see his fit. If Gio wasn't here, he's a plug n go 3RW.

My guess here is that other teams know what he is and is capable of reaching and will be highly considered as a trade chip. I love the player but the fit is not so good with this team.

I imagine Larsson will be seeking a very similar contract to ZG. I wonder what Legs is worth on the market. 2.5? Wonder what Murray's feeling is about him. I'd keep him for sure at a reasonable 4th line PK specialist price.

it got insanely frustrating for me when people hacked Lehner to poop before preseason game 1.

To be totally honest, I gave no credit to CJ. Many years in the league as a backup. Lehner to me has yet to prove anything. Good or bad. Which is why I saw it as way too premature to label Lehner as bust.

Legwand? Eh. I don't think anyone paid any mind to him. I feel like we all saw him as 4th line throw in material that would fill in for Cody while he was out. What a happy surprise that he was thrown into the deal. Even Murray gave him no credit. Something along the lines of "Did you ask for Legwand to be included?" "That was the deal, take it or leave it"

Sources say the Bills are "very much" in hunt for a QB in Draft with Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel entering final year of contracts. @NFLonFOX

He was crucified as soon as the deal was announced... Some of us stuck up for him.
Also during the season... But that was from people on here that have to complain due to contractual obligations with their parents I guess.
