In the end, Burkes attitude got him canned. The media had totally turned on him and baited him non stop.

Yes, after six seasons. But it was needed when he took over a franchise in disarray. Strong leadership is needed at times of crises. But when times are good those strong leaders are no longer needed.

Churchill learned the same lesson.

I would rather have Eriksson play on the 1st line, OR second line than Vrbata.
- Codes1087

He's younger and 500 points in 700 games tells you he's just flat out a better player. He's also known to be dependable defensively, which is a lot more than I can say about Vrbata. At 30 years old, we could do worse. Could do better too though in Lucic IMO

The problem is, the REAL FANS might be willing to endure the losing, but the media isn't. If JB went up there and said, we suck, we know we suck, we're dumping our vets and going full rebuild, it's going to be ripped and the sad thing is, the vast majority of the fanbase are the Tanbir's of the world who would all fall off the cliff like lemmings spouting the words of Pratt the Pr!ck, Pedo-laugh Jake, Pu**y Price, Blue Jack-off Sekeres and the rest of the 1040 morons. Can you imagine the hysteria on the streets about the Canucks being the new Oilers of this decade?

To Bloated

Thank you for this...I have a feeling Bloated didn't attend many games this year

From last thread.

Not like this. Our top 2 D and 2nd line C combined for more than two seasons of man games lost.

Just because you have the spin cycle on gentle doesnt mean I won't catch it.

Don't understand the connection? You're saying that if they don't legitimately compete for a playoff spot people won't go to the games?

(frank) that. (frank) kesler. Go Preds! RyJO and Weber, couple BC boys leading the team!
- neem55

Keslord in beast mode is what i'm looking forward to seeing, along with Santorelli and Bieksa in Ana...

I won't mind one bit if Kes wins the cup with Anahim...

I agree. He was most responsible for the core than took us to the final and was much better than Nonis and Gillis at drafting. He wasnt a dinosaur when we had him before the two lockouts either.

Vrbada was very sound defensively for us in his first year. He was horrible defensively like so many others last season.

People are only using Vrbada's poor season as an example of hat kind of player he is. Thats very Botchford like....

Linden and Aquilini need to be able to shut off the tv and radio and not listen to those bow-sows in the media. Very few do I have any respect for.

Vrbata gave up. Went from top line minutes to 3rd line minutes. He was invisible all season.

Yes, out of the Canadian teams we def. have the most fair weather fans. I'm saying the message from management is irrelevant among most fans. Win or people won't show

Please relocate to the Ducks threads. Throw that Sports Illustraded Kesler issue away. The pages are welded together.

Look at his numbers from last year(they are not impressive). He's never been good defensively, was/is deployed in the offensive zone for that reason. It's fine if you're producing points, if not you're just a liability. See: Kessel, Hall, Kane, Turris, Hoffman for similar examples.

He wasnt a liability the first season nor was he lazy. It was pointed out much of the season how he used his speed to cover for the Sedins turnovers and being trapped in deep. He was back checking all the time.

I became a season ticket holder the last season of messier's reign of terror. The place was empty. When Burke started to implement his grand design fans noticed and started to fill the building. Nucks still didn't win a lot of games but people saw something happening and got onboard.

Fans aren't onboard with JB yet. May happen but Lefty may be right in saying that JB might be here for a purpose and when that purpose is complete he's gone.

Forgive me if my memory is incorrect...didn't you say at one point you didn't renew your season tickets?

I was looking up Gillis' draft picks that are actually in discussions for roster spots next season:

Anton Rodin
Alexandre Grenier
Ben Hutton
Brendan Gaunce
Bo Horvat
Chris Tanev (signed as a rookie)

There's a few longshots and others to consider:
Jordan Subban
Cole Cassels
Alex Friesen
Joe Cannata

We still see his handprint on this team and probably will for a long time.

You forget that I was saying this about both WD and JB when we argued for the first season. They won't be here when these kids start to mature and make an impact. Why go after higher profile staff when they will be gone by the time this team can compete. You just kept saying you were confused over and over. Good to see you widening your point of view lately.

I was going to borrow one of Shiddy's dolls for the day but then Bloated showed up with his sexy legs.
