i agree....but what hawk forward is going to do that...shaw?? desi?? maybe ladd...

i understand the hawks don't play that way and have 5 WC finals and 3 cups to validate it...but it would be nice to see some of these youn pugilist forwards like fabri get a nice reminder that they can get tattoed once in a while

I wasn't referring to retaliation by our forwards. Its about a defenceman doing what he needs to do to protect himself and make the forward think twice or dispense with the idea completely. Do you think Fabbri makes that hit on Shea Weber or Johnny Boychuck or Eric Gudbranson or Radko Gudas? How about Ed Hospodar in his Flyer days or Denis Potvin with the Islanders?

Answer: No he doesn't because he knows his face will get caved in. But Rosy's a good target because he is old and slow and Fabbrican get away with it.

NHL has a lot of little rats that run around trying to impress with big hits that are essentially charging penalties or hits from behind or slew foots. And then they hide in the little scrums that develop.

Fabbri is not a rat.

I think that is the first big hit I have seen him lay all year.

Did anyone get a good look at the play that face-planted AA? I was streaming so I couldn't rewind. Should the cross-check have been called?

If you are talking about the play on the PP when AA tried to stuff the puck in-- Shattenkirk took multiple strides and cross checked AA in the back --

That hasn't been called much especially in the playoffs-- but one could make a point that its a charge as well as a cross check and maybe roughing-- take your pick

Never understood why that wasn't interference a lot of the time.

FYI 65 only had 13:30 of TOI. Definitely hurt.

I wonder what that line is for interference-- finishing your check is one thing-- following a player 25 feet to make the hit after the puck is gone is quite another--

Whats the deal with STL fans standing ovation for every hit on the Hawks?

Are they really that butt sore from the wakey wakey thing

Where I come from a good hard clean hit is part of the game. You have to take a hit if you can make a play. But like Rick said, a little surprise when the guy gets there is part of it too. The after the whistle stuff is where the tattoo stuff is warranted.
