Both teams will play the hell out of the Top 4 this series.

Having seen Gunnarson in action with the Leafs I know he isn't much and neither is Bortuzzo but the Blues have the edge on D overall.

- RickJ

I doubt Bortuzzo will be dressed in game 1.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues top 4 morphs into Petro/Jaybo and Shatty/Parayko

LOL I like the outlook Hocktock! Here's hoping Monster Mash goes for the Gordie Howe Hattrick and leaves Blows' nation in shock!!

Quick place a Vegas bet on that. Odds have to be a very big payout.

I got watch Payton play football, Jordan play basketball and now Toews and Kane play hockey. Whos cares about Taters? Can't you people enjoy anything? Wait for it to unfold. Q doesn't want to lose. Golly gum drops people. I'm excited and I'll be listening on the radio in my bubble.

GO TATERS!

Much of the Blues success this year has been the activation of their D corps in a more offensive fashion, and a streaky good Brian Elliott.

Assuming the Hawk D can exit the zone, in theory, the rapid transition potential of the Hawk forwards should be a substantial counter to any goonery from the Blues.

If the Hawks come out like they did against Boston a few weeks ago they should win. Solid forecheck from the top three lines and a hardnosed shutdown performance from line #4 should open the ice for the Kane line.

Let's hope the Hawks come with their GAF attitude tonight. Steal one with Keith out and it's downhill from there.

This is going to be a barn-burner tonight. Savvy has been saying that its Q and Bowman "sword-fighting", but I really think its more accurate to say that Q and Hitch are "sword-fighting" with the insertion of Mashinter into the lineup....

So is Q going to be putting Mashinter in some sort of ice Ferrari?
Cause other than that, ain't no way he's catching either of them on the rink.
I don't deny that's what some of JJ's connections have told him. However, whether they actually believe Q's bullsh!t is another story altogether.

I'm betting #53 doesn't "land" more than a single hit in his 5 min TOI tonight.

- savvyone-1

Its a joke.... Mash has zero speed and really doesnt hit all that much. I rarely notice him when he is out there. I always notice Panik. The guy has great wheels and is always looking to throw a shoulder. And some players want Mash out there? Bottom line is Mash is a liability that takes away from his line. Dont like it and I think it will back fire on Q.

Having Mash out there makes us a 3 line team...

Could be anything with Parise lower body

He has had wonky wheels the past 5 years.

Knee injuries
foot injuries
ankle injuries

adding a back injury to it would just complete the mix

No disagreement. Apparently Parise has hit his limit of three cortisone shots in X time and visited the Mayo clinic on Tuesday for "help". All the super fans up here are going to break down in tears.

This should be a Blues concern especially given 2 of the 6 d are likely to be rookies. How will there decisions of when and how to activate be? Will they be timid, missing out on scoring chances? Will they be over aggressive and give up scoring chances against?

JJ nailed it (as usual): You have a pretty good idea of what you get from the Toews, Anisimov and Krueger lines. Will TT alligator-arm his way through the series? If so, even more indications that the Hawks will be a 3 line crew.

Hoping for a lot of consistency at the blue line, not sure if it's reasonable. If 57 is deployed on his natural side, I think this unit might be ok in front of Crow. If 57, Gus and Sveddy cough it up all night....better hope for a split in game 2.

Just out of curiosity, now that we've seen a decent amount of what Mashinter has to offer...if faced with the choice of having to ice Bollig or Mashinter in this series, which do you choose? I'm going with Bollig personally, I actually liked the guy and was rooting for him to stick/become a better player with the Hawks as time went on.

erhoff was never a stellar defender in his younger days with the nucks...he got the big deal with the sabres as offensive minded dman...and of course went south and took some really bad hits resulting in concussion problems...that has impacted his game big time...he looks very tentative out there trying to avoid contact (cant blame him really)...i suspect his nhl days are over after this season...the hawks took a high reward/low risk trade by moving scuderi and clearing some $$$...

the high reward numerator has not worked out so far...

- bogiedoc

spot on. he looked good right after he was acquired, but since the Reaves hit (legal or not) earlier this year he has not skated with as much confidence

They crying/ complaining on this board will be endless if Mash trucks a Blues player and then Reaves lays out Toews/ Kane/ Panarin etc.

You have been questioning / bad mouthing Q all year. Read the following quote from the blog. Then read it again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again…..Until you FINALLY get it.

"Joel Quenneville has forgotten more about hockey than all of us combined will likely ever know—and he keeps playing these guys, game after game, year after year."

Crap. Always like a long series. Best playing best. I guess they're gonna trap. Interesting to see if they can keep Dallas off the board. Crap.
