So Q put the best team on the ice tonight?
An absent third line.
Seven SOG with five power plays. - Return of the Roar
blues play a very aggressive pk...they run at the point guys and force the issue up high...keith gets back i want to see him play the rover in and out of the slot; also want to see 72 and 88 play catch below the red line and get this pk defenders back turned
i suspect we will see panik or weiss in G2...keith back...the stable is full....time to roll'em and get game 2

My only issue with tonight is didn't see much of anyone screening Elliott, that's a bit disappointing even on some of the power plays Toews or others on the side of the net instead of in front of the goalie. |

(frank)innnn waste...... - mrpaulish
Well they looked pretty good with no Keith and only 3.5 lines which gives me hope for 2's return and (hopefully) Q seeing sense and putting Panik or Weise in |

Putting the "best line up" out on the ice has no effect on what happened in the current game. Whats done is done. Sure it could be argued that it should be different but that wasn't the point of what was said. In this game the better team lost. Q is pretty good adjusting from losses and I'm sure we will see a better lineup on Friday. There was a lot to be happy about tonight. - WelcomeToTheWeb
i agree the hawks were good on their gaps, the back check and their sticks....tarasenko got a few looks but they kept him contained... |

Merciless cross-checking seems to be working. Ladd needs to be one of those guys. He has good hands and a quick pivot in-tight. He's a mean son of a b too. |

No, they don't. And I never said they were arrogant for doing so. There's a pretty big difference between the way teams like the Hawks/LA celebrate after wins and the way the Blues just did.
On to the next one. - CBHawks88
Agree to disagree. We all know what you were implying when you made that comment. There's no other reason to say that other than to stir crap up because the Hawks lost. |

So in other words, the best lineup 😉
Issue I was responding to was not the outlook for the series, rather the narrow question of did the "better team" win tonight. |

Svedberg or Gusto?
I was pleasantly surprised with Gusto's game and Svedberg but I have to lean towards Gusto |

Gusto, as long as he never sees PP time. That dude has the softest point shot I've ever witnessed. |

And how about #4, blocks the Tarasenko shot can barely skate, can't get off the ice and when it comes back around and Tarasenko goes to take another shot he goes down to block it, what a warrior |

the hawks were the better team in over all play and chances...for the most part they controlled the game....but their goalies stopped everything and they got a bounce; which as we all know happens alot in this league...

You're joking right? That's a huge win for the blues.
Winning game 1 is huge for any team.
Are you new to watching hockey or any pro sport for that matter? - KINGS67

I recall seeing a blues player effectively strong arming Svedberg in Crawford's crease. The big guy needs to beef up. Do yoga or something. He's no Chara. |

Maybe we need to go back to getting outshot....lol....Total domination tonight and they lose. Get Mashinter out, Keith in and get this series going.
Hitchcrock says he wants 70+ hits. He's such a freaking lunkhead.

I'm glad the blues were so focused on hitting, because they have the horses at the moment to play better hockey than the Hawks. Kind of a dumb strategy, in my humble opinion. |

That's my take. If Hawks take this series, Hitch will be put out to pasture. |

Meh, she's a troll. Whatever
I wasn't even trying to say that winning game 1 isn't huge, and I wasn't talking about the team/players' celebration. I just didn't recall all the smoke cannons and such in the arena at the end of every home win. |

well FWIW....the hawks are 2-0 in series where they lost G1...been very good good at winning G1's since 2013 playoffs
They beat blues in '14 and the ducks last year...last series lost after losing G1 was vs coyotes in 2012, they also lost in 2011 vs the nucks |

Hitch has been different all year long with his responses to media questions. It's like he hiding something. He is responding differently this year than he has in years past. More cut throat, more snide snarky comments.
Blues need to play physical but 70 + hits is crazy, that just means you have no puck possession and are chasing the other team all night long.
Good game by both teams. Blues barely showed up. Still out of sink. Should be a hard series. Yet another o/t game between these two teams. I am going to have no fingers left if this continues.(gnawing at them all night long) |

Hitch is gone at the end of this year regardless. We win he retires, we lose and he is NOT renewed. Either way Blues fans will be happy next year with a NEW coach. Maybe Muller, who knows. He didn't do that well his 1st time with the Hurricanes so……..
