You're joking right? That's a huge win for the blues.

Winning game 1 is huge for any team.

Are you new to watching hockey or any pro sport for that matter?

Oh look who showed up.

Considering no Keith and Gusto, Mashinter and Svedberg with ice time, thought the defense was great Hawks had some golden chances to score but it was very nice to see the team defense show up.

After tonight's game I really like our chances now. Line 4 shut down Tarasenko line which is great to see

Most importantly Crawford looks like he's good to go

Was it 2 years ago they lost game one to the Blues in OT on the road?

I'm getting my years confused apparently.

- ArlingtonRob

Two years ago.

Blues tied game 1 with about a minute left.

Blues tied game 2 with 7 seconds left.

Blues won both in OT.

Sh!tty that it had to end like that but I was encouraged by a lot of tonight.

4 has flipped the switch. Crawford looked good. Toews Hossa Ladd with some nice pressure, thought TVR had a good night except that deflection. Thought they did a good job at neutralizing Tarasenko for the most part. 11-22-65 in their first game as a line together in a few games so they're only going to look better and Krugs especially was amazing. PK was really good.

Just need to (frank)ing score on the power play.

Huge win, yeah. But teams that have been there before don't celebrate like that after 1 game.

Tough way to lose .Good effort all around , not like ST.L has a bad PK .. Steal the next one and all is good . ..GO HAWKS !!!!!!
- oldduffman

Even without Keith, this one was there for the taking. Plenty of good, but plenty to improve on as well. Game 2 will be a good one!

Bad break for TVR -- Hawks failed on a chance to clear shortly before the goal. Bad things happen when you can't get the puck out of your own zine.

Hope 4 can still skate by Friday: a couple of his blocks hurt him - he didn't look like he was moving very well toward the end of the game.

I really hope you're kidding. The hawks were swarming around the puck and had a lot of great chances while limiting STL to 16 or so shots. All of this without Keith. I know it sucks we lost but you can't say the better team won.

Crow played great all night, but why didn't he freeze the puck? The Hawks had tired players on the ice, and Crawford played the puck right up the middle.

Yes they do. Every team celebrates when they win. Stop acting like the Blues are arrogant for doing so. They won a game they desperately needed to win. They celebrated. Who cares?

Crawford looked good. Body language said it all. He looked sharp. Blues didn't get all that many good looks, to be honest. They were more concerned with late hits and other junk. The refs did a good job of shutting down that nonsense, and it turned out to be an entertaining hockey game. Something to be proud of.

The whole team chipped in on Defense, and it really worked. Lots of people moving their butts and covering their men.

I can take a lousy PP. I can't take an inept PK. A wasted PP results in dissapointment. A PK that gets scored on without effort stings and is not good for my health.

That was a tough loss Jack...

...the Hawks played a rock solid road playoff game, better than I thought they would sans DK...

...but OT just didn't go their way.

Oh well...next.

As Q says - goalie win, by Elliott. He was stellar. Toews could have had a couple himself early in the game.

No, they don't. And I never said they were arrogant for doing so. There's a pretty big difference between the way teams like the Hawks/LA celebrate after wins and the way the Blues just did.

On to the next one.

Putting the "best line up" out on the ice has no effect on what happened in the current game. Whats done is done. Sure it could be argued that it should be different but that wasn't the point of what was said. In this game the better team lost based on play. Q is pretty good adjusting from losses and I'm sure we will see a better lineup on Friday. There was a lot to be happy about tonight.
