Why St Louis fans are so sure that Mashinter can't catch their stars is missing the point. He's not trying t catch them, he's going to keep them from camping in our slot, near our crease or circling our net. There' s reason they call it the dirty little area, and that's Mash's job, along with chasing pucks into the offensive zone and rocking a few defensemen trying to break out.

Now, I'm not saying it will work, but I understand what we're attempting.

Does it make me a bad person if I want to punch cartoon-Cory Perry in the face as much as I want to punch the real Cory Perry in the face?
- phantasmo

Nope. My coworkers that are Kings fans and I all call him Voldeperry

I think he's the only player I've ever wished would get injured

This is perfect timing for Ladd and the Hawks. Ladd is going to come back at a level he hasn't played with yet. He will be incredibly motivated.

Because he cant.

Wasnt 53 on the ice when Reaves almost killed Eihroff ?

Anyways the Hawks should just stick to hockey, its what they are best at . Having 53 is a complete waste , just like 52 used to be . Especially if Ladd doesnt play tonight 53 is double useless.

My thinking is if LA should win the SC this season, there will be non-stop talk about 3 in 5 (no mention of missing a playoff season in that run). The suits in NYC don't want any negatives surrounding feel-good stories.
- powerenforcer

LA has to get past the Sharks first who have played fairly well the second half of the season. Thornton has been on fire and if Couture is healthy that gives them probably the best 3 line combination in hockey forward wise.

Plus they seem to have a coach who knows how to maximize the players he has.

With some good goaltending, I think they can get through. I don't think it will be a walk for LA.

Either way, it should make for an entertaining contest.

Hawks win tonight btw. Toews wills it.

He will go to the offensive boards hard below the goal line, but not sure he's had much success clearing the slots. But I agree that if he can, he's done his job.

Pretty much everyone's reaction on here the first day we heard Mashinter was in the playoff line rushes:

So extending that last sentence a little further I interpret that to mean that you have discovered and seen some endearing and admirable qualities in Matt Cooke, Raffi Torres and Alex Burrows.

Am I the only one feeling anxious? And does anyone else stand in front of the TV when the action starts to peak? My wife watches the games, but typically from the kitchen. Once in a while I’ll hear her shout: “will you leave Mashinter and Rozsival alone”.
- etchtech

Yeah my wife teases me about it, don't usually do it until it's an elimination game for the Hawks or always when the Cup is in the house, she says you know they can't hear you?

If he could be as effective as Bickell was last year in the playoffs finishing checks I'd be happy but unfortunately have not ever seen from Mash

Oh yeah..."the old stand in front of the TV so you can influence the results trick". Of course, I just tell the wife I'm getting some "exercise" in.

If you're thinking a blowout that's because Q's lines will look like this:

53-53-53
53-53-53
53-53-53
53-53-53

53-53
53-53
53-53

Crawford

Hawks will be penalized for too few men on the ice and Crow will serve the penalty....

So we gave up a 1st and 2nd and DAno and DAnnult and both are not playing. Flesch had the lowest value of the 3. probably could have gotten him with a 3rd or 4th by himself.

Ladd and his wife are having a baby....you can hardly get upset is if misses a game because of that.

Wiese should be playing, and he probably will be within a game or two.

Ladd playing for his last contract and winning a Stanley Cup would help that baby, who won't remember if Andrew was there or not. And his wife will get over it if he gets better money! Women.

I feel like I'm going to be able to relax and enjoy this years playoffs (however long they may be) a little more as I don't have as high of expectations.

It wouldn't surprise me if they got bounced in the first round by St. Louis and it also wouldn't surprise me if they made a lengthy run. My gut feeling is that they don't have it this year (and there's a lot of underlying numbers that support this), but I've learned better than to ever count the Hawks out.

I could care less whether Mashinter, Panik, or Weiss are in at this point. Q is going to do what he does regardless of whether I disagree (and in this case I disagree). With that said, game 1 can't come quick enough...not a fan of the 8:30 Central start.

Good news, assuming all goes well. Understood she was due in mid-May. If we get that far, better now than then I say.

Yeah, I read it was a May 23 due date... eager little baby

If it was a regular season game I would off course have no problem but its a playoff game and we gave up 2 huge assets for him. What if we lose tonight and are out in 5 games. We got him for 4 games. I'm not as much upset about it as I hope it was discussed prior to giving up that much value. Pretty sure we could have got boedeker or Droin for Dano. If he said he would probably need to miss a game in the playoffs I hope we considered that when making a offer. he could leave Chicago on a private jet at 6:30 and be back at midnight. I do understand why he would like to be there.
