Comments on Tarasenko from the players tribune

"Mike Rupp
Let me tell you about the craziest thing I’ve seen this season. I was waiting outside the locker room at the All-Star Game to meet up with Kris Letang. So I’m just standing around, and I look to my left, and I see this absolute behemoth walking towards me.

I just see these legs. It looks like an NFL fullback is coming at me.

I’m thinking, Who the hell is that?

I look up, and it’s Tarasenko.

I knew they called him Tank, but I’ve never seen a hockey player with that kind of build. His lower body, I can’t even explain it.

Ryan Whitney
That kid, it’s a joke. When I was in camp with St. Louis, I kept doing double takes. Tank makes Sid’s legs look like my legs. It’s crazy.

Rupp
Chris Kreider and Sidney Crosby are the only guys who have blown me away with their lower body strength. But Tank was a new level. He walked in and I was actually looking up and down in disbelief. He was probably like, What the heck is this guy doing?

He’s a beast. He’s not going to shy away from traffic in the playoffs. Everybody knows about his release and his skating, but he’s also built to go right through you. To have a superstar built like that? Holy crap."

Well it's time for Tarasenko to go BeastMode

every year he has gotten significantly better in the play offs. but after last year is it possible for him to get any better?

Often when a team is missing one player especially for one game they tend to play better. So I would not go that far. Unless that one player makes all the difference and the over all team in his absense is terrible, and in the hawks case that cannot be said.

He does make a HUGE difference. The guy logs 28+ minutes a night. Remember when Petro went down this year and the effect it had on us? Keith is that to Chicago x 100.

I think he's kind of been on coast mode the last half of the season. He knows how to take it up a notch still.

The D played really well when Petro was out.

I especially remember that because I was on my open to trade Petro and keep Shatty kick.

Probably still ok with it now but I would rather keep both. Which is probably unrealistic.

hey Eggs, puck daddy used the source I sent him from the tweet you sent me. of course he cut us all out of it so he looks like he found it rather than re-tweeting it.

regardless, hat tip to you and thanks for passing it along.

No problemmo! Nothing surprises me these days when it comes to attribution on the interwebs...

For the first couple games they did, after that... That's what guru was saying, for a game or two the rest of the team can step up, although in this case Keith has already missed a few but everyone will be pumped for game 1 regardless.

I don't think the Blues can let the absence or the return of Keith get in their heads. They need to focus on keying in on their depth guys like Gustabson vanReimsdyke and Rozival. Those are the guys who you can get on and easily cause turnovers and mistakes.

I don't think they were bad after the first few games. I am just looking at the right side D that filled in. Bortz was good on the 3rd line, and both Shatty and Parayko played well with their extra minutes.

I agree that they can't let Keith being there/coming back next game be a factor. If we play our game, we can beat the Hawks.

Let's do this!

My picks for the 1st round

Stars over Minny
Nash or Ducks(ducks might take it but i am going with Nash)
Kings over Sharks
Fla over NYI
Wings over Lightning(without Stamkos i think the wings might sneak this one out)
Caps over Flyers but its going to be a hell of a series
Pens over Rangers (rangers lose key players and Pens are hot at the right time or i would pick Rangers)

EDIT

Lightning over Wings (Bishop will beat Howard) forget Stamkos

Pull out all the cliches, because it is nearly time for these ice skating gentlemen to begin tournament play for Lord Stanley's chalice.

I don't get it. Everyone is saying they are glad Elliot is finally getting a chance in the playoffs. Elliot has played in 15 playoff games for us. the year we beat the sharks and were swept by the kings then the following year against the kings.

Talking heads on NHL network keep mentioning Halak, Miller, Allen. Halak played 1 playoff game (and got hurt while doing so, thanks Jackman) in 3 seasons with us.

Elliot has had his chances.

Not saying Elliot should not be in but damn idiots talking about the Blues act as he has never played for us in the playoffs.

Blues are in trouble if the refs don't pull their head out of their ass. Obvious high stick against Petro let go, obvious charge against Petro 30 seconds later let go, but then super weak call against Steen made, and another super weak call to give them a 5 on 3.

Then refusing the call the blatant trip against Backes? WTF?

The NHL scripting things to give the big TV markets the best chance to win the Cup is getting old.

I thought for certain that it was Peel reefing tonight. I was shocked when i looked at the roster report and its not.

How do they not call that trip?? The missed high stick against Petro?? they have 2 refs for a reason and both missed those?
