While it is a great preview, I don't understand how you could possibly say LA has more scoring depth than San Jose. After Sharks' top 6, you have

Marleau 48 points
Wingels 18
Karlsson 19
Tierny with 20
Nieto with 17
and spaling with 13 (in only 58 games)

LA has

Versteeg with 38
Lecavelier with 18 (in 49 games)
Lewis with 16
King with 13
Clifford with 9 (in 56 games)
Andreoff with 10

Don't see how there was an advantage to L.A. and San Jose having all their eggs in one basket? San Jose rolls three good scoring lines with 2 extremely potent D-men.

I'll take experience in playoffs over the regular season stats

Resist the impulse to post or maybe indulge 1 of every 10 of your impulses.

Kings in 6. Sharks can't hang in a long series.

except Sutter doesn't line match. However what you do say about the bottom six is valid. Preferably you want offense from top 6, defense from bottom, or at least limited liability. I think the Kings bottom six presents less liability than San Jose. Also, the matchups are not always going to be set in line 1 v line 1, line 2 v line 2 etc etc. So you have to really believe that if, say, the Lecavalier line gets caught out against Thornton it won't end badly for the Kings. Could you say the same if the Kopitar line gets out against the Marleau third line? Hard to say.

This is a really thinly shaved series. It will be close no question

Sutter does line match. It might not be the same matchup every time, but I guarantee you that he looks at who is on the ice then chooses his players.

I've watched the entire tenure of Sutter with the Kings. He does not line match. He plays his lineup and makes coaches react to him by linematching.

He rolls four lines and shortens his bench late in games if it is close and he does not feel a certain line is performing. He will also elevate players within his lineup if he feels he needs to shorten his bench but keep certain players in (Ala Clifford playing shifts on a 2nd or 3rd line at times). But he does not line match.

Yes he does. I'm beginning to think you aren't actually sure what line matching means. He is one of the best in the league at line matching and he has been since before he coached the kings. He isn't as vigorous with it as many other coaches, but he definitely does it. He's also been blessed with a deep roster during his time with the kings, so he can play all 4 lines regularly. By the way, saying you have watched his entire tenure means nothing. I'm a kings season ticket holder, does that add any validity to what I see coming from the kings bench?

This is from 2012, but still proves my point. Pulled from a jewels from the crown blog.

Just don't reply to sniper11. Logic and facts are completely lost on him. I've been pretending that he doesn't exist for going on a year now.

Sharks played a very disciplined game tonight. Have to hand it to them. They stifled the forecheck and it seemed they were on the front foot the entire game.

Still, had a chance to send it into overtime at the end (Cliffy...what a miss) so this is going to be a long series. Still like Kings in 6...because I'm a homer.

Section 306, row 4, seats 1&2. Come say hi. I'm always down for a hockey chat. Kings just happen to be my 2nd favorite team.

Kopi was uncharacteristically burned. He didn't have the playoff physicality going in game 1.

McBain in I would imagine. And I pray to the hockey gods that DS never pairs 7 & 52 again. That was a Groundhog Day train wreck.
