Some of the Habs players show up at a restaurant. Drink for 800 and eat for 700. Tip for 5%.

Then they go to the bar and grab some drinks for 75$ and tip for 4$.

#LeadertipIssues.

To be fair a high-end shot can cost $15-20, so if a bartender gives you 4 shots for 30 seconds of work, should they get more than $4? If I was buying and put $80 down I would walk away and that's the tip.

To be fair, shut up.

If you're buying 80$ of shots and you're a millionaire, you just give the (frank)ing regular tip.

it's like saying the waiter at Denny's made the same effort as the waiter at Gibby's so i only have to tip $3 on my $65 steak.

you tip off of the check.

the waitstaff has a right to be livid if this is the case.

is 20% the norm in canada, or quebec, for good service?

i was having a beer at the airport here last week waiting for my wife to pick me up and there were some American girls asking about the tipping customs here. lady next to me goes "10%-15% is the standard here". 10% is brutal on good service. she seemed like a complete (frank)ing idiot.

yeah not sure how but it jumped from 15% to 20% and with the (frank)ing machine you end up paying the tip on the tax too it's a (frank)in rip off really.

15% is standard, 20% if the service is good. Unfortunately, many people don't.

Waitstaff also earns less than minimum wage, on the assumption that gratuities will compensate the difference. On top of that, may serving staff have to pay a tip-out to non-front of house staff, further eating into that "tip".

So just give them 15-20% and stop being (frank)ing cheap. If you can't afford an extra 15%, you shouldn't be out for dinner/drinks anyway.

Not to mention the server gawking over you while you have the machine in your hand.
