they didnt cost much of anything.. I get that you think Marincin is trash...and no matter what he does, I dont think you will change you view on him

so far the biggest indicator we have is the Marlies...and its not like they have been kinda good...they are historically dominant... that success will start to translate to NHL success eventually.. probably starting next season. whether you want to credit Lou, Hunter or Dubas it doesnt matter..

Cost certainty for Rielly for 6 years could be a really good thing.... particularly with expansion on the horizon and the inevitable CAP increase that will accompany/follow it

exactly... I'm guessing Rielly get's avg 5.5 - 6.0... Kadri hopefully a bit less - perhaps in the range of average 5.0

there's another potential upside to these guys... who, just as you stated didn't cost much (I think Marincin was a 3rd round pick of similar).

perhaps - viewing it in the following fashion helps
1) what was Marincin's value at the outset of the 2015/2016 season?
2) is that lower than what you could get for him now? would someone for example give up a 2nd rounder for him?
3) what value did Greening have when included in the Phaneuf deal - almost or perhaps less than zero because of the CAP hit?
4) could you possibly trade him for another expiring contract or draft pick?
essentially he cost the Leafs nothing other than $$ which we all know they have tons of ..

nothing ventured..

I'm not a fan of Marincin either... but as a placeholder he certainly was better towards the end of the year than out at the outset
