I don't know. They support soccer.

But the people don't want to fund another new arena with tax bonds.

- Marc D

I think its disgusting when owners of various sports franchises (looking at you Stan Kroenke) hold municipalities and their residents hostage.

also, dishonorable mention to the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves.

My understanding of the Braves situation is that the residents of Cobb County didnt even get to vote in a referendum. The County Commission just screwed the residents.

Not sure about that. Both arenas come pretty close to capacity for their games, on average. For hockey, MTS Centre seats less than 15,500. Ottawa about 1,000 less than capacity. http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance

Attendance was pretty strong when the Nords/Jets moved in the 90's too.

We all know how this crap works:

Day 1: Player A is fine, just taking a maintenance day

Day 2: Player A is day to day with an LBI

Day 5: We expect that Player A may be out one to two weeks, but we expect him to make a full recovery

Day 10: Funeral services for Player A will be announced tomorrow.

I met Lindros a few times out and about in Sea Isle and Longport. He always was very polite and somewhat shy, but never a Richard. He just seemed like he wanted to be a normal guy and not be fawned over or hassled.
- MBFlyerfan

I met Lindros once at a bar in Berlin, NJ, where the players often hung out. He was there with a female friend, and sat right next to my friend and me. Plenty of knuckleheads went up to him and interrupted his date. We just sat quietly. At one point, she went to the ladies room and I used the opportunity to speak to him. He kindly autographed a piece of paper for me (bar receipt?). When he left, he had about 8 drinks lined up in front of him, bought for him by people in the bar. He offered them to us, saying he couldn't drink them because he had practice in the morning. Seemed like a nice enough guy to me.

When the season began I had absolutely no faith that we would become a playoff team. I told myself all season that if the Caps get in, go for Ov because it's his turn. Well now that I've been proven wrong by this team by having the best record in the second half and the new motivation they have by honoring Ed Snider, I have faith that we can at least pull off a first round upset. The Flyers/Caps rivalry can be fun but should we move past the Caps, I'm dying to see a Rangers or Penguins all out war.

Go Flyers!

It's funny how they just seem to be ignoring Quebec after they ponied up the money.

So did Minnesota, Winnipeg, San Jose & Colorado.

St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia & Ottawa if you want to go way, way back.

Flyers have a goal differential of plus-1, the second-lowest among playoff teams. A slow first quarter is part of the reason; since Nov. 22, 2015, the Flyers have a goal differential of plus-24

However, the numbers suggest the Flyers actually may have the edge. Philadelphia has a save percentage of .932 in even-strength situations, second in the League behind the New York Rangers' .933. The Capitals are 11th with a .929 save percentage in such situations.

If memory serves, the support for the stadium vanished when it became known that it was going to have to be publicly funded. There was a lawsuit, I think it had to do with Cobb County being legally bound to put such expenditures before the voters. I forget the exact details now. I'm sure a web search would turn up some relevant info.
