quotes not working. for the person asking about donating to his Foundation, go to http://sniderhockey.com/
also, they take equipment so if you have sticks or gently used gear you can donate them.
its a GREAT program. as I mentioned before I volunteered at the beginning in 2005 when they started at UPENN then ended up help coach the girls program at Cobbs Creek. I worked for years with the same kids and watched them grow up and a few move onto college. It was the highlight of my week working with the kids. Seeing how excited they were to see us every week. I knew what Mr Snider started really touched the kids and their parents. I haven't been involved over the last 2 years but I think I am going to start again. - nastyflyergirl
Thanks for the link to donate.

To me, game 1 is just huge. If the Flyers can pull off an upset in game 1, all bets are off. Will the Caps wilt? Can they handle the pressure of losing the first game at home? Will it be yet another playoff flame out?
I really think that if the Flyers can win the first game, this thing is going 6 or 7 and anything can happen. However, if the Caps win game 1, they probably win this thing in 5 or 6. - BiggE
Game one is huge but if they get a split on the road then I will be happy. All the pressure is on the Caps not to wilt. If they can get some traffic on holtby and maybe give a nudge or two I think they can get in his head a little. |

That was so eloquently said about Simmonds. For me I always thought he was the epitome of the perfect Flyer. Maybe not the most skilled guy out there but a guy with the heart to do whatever it takes to win. I remember a few years ago he took a puck off his mouth while in front of the goal. I think it went in the net. After extensive repairs he was back in the game.
Also I remember when he first came here a few of us felt he was a glorified 3rd line player, not great on D and handled the puck like a grenade. Most of his points via the PP. hyperkinetic like you said, a great description.
It's been great to see his game on the ice improve to where he is now a legit top line winger. Also his role as a team leader mainly by setting an example of giving 100% every shift, not backing away from anything.
He is so easy to like and a favorite player for us.
Great write up.
Can't wait for the playoffs. The underdog role is a good one for this team. |

They need to sit Emery in the front row right behind Holtby's net for the 1st and 3rd periods, so that every time he turns around to get some water, Razor can just grin at him.
EDIT - or he could just just hold up a picture...

For example, I don't think Gostisbehere is a Flyers pick 5 years ago. Or even Konecny. - MBFlyerfan
Nah, Flyers were always willing to take guys w/ physical question marks... that's how they find guys like J. Will, Forsberg, Gagne, Giroux, etc that other teams would have taken later. |

I photographed some of the Flyers for a magazine the Flyers put together for a charity event. I was one of three photographers with stations set up so that we could move the guys thru pretty quick. It was after a morning practice . Most of the guys I shot were very nice. Brasheer was kind of intimidating and quite, but pleasant enough. The only guy that any of us had any trouble with was LeClaire. He was cranky and rude. Considering that the photos for were for a charity event and that we volunteered our time and photo-services for this project it really bugged me that he was such a jerk. The other thing that struck me as odd was what a goof ball Bill Barber was. He was the coach at the time and I expected him to be more serious. His goofiness was appreciated tho...it helped loosen up the other guys for the photos. |

You're not the first person to have similar experiences with Leclair. I never knew any of the guys from that era, but my sister worked for the team from 90-92 and some of the nicest guys I met were Pelle Eklund, Kevin Dineen and Doc Emrick.

The funny thing, from what I've heard and read, Barrasso was just detested by pretty much all of his teammates. They've basically all said that he was a just a selfish, miserable SOB, and no one could stand to be around him.

2 questions:
the kings can't spring for cheap hotels for their development camp attendees ?
does the jack adams award take into account making or not making the playoffs ?

As a kid I went to hockey summer camp at Radnor Rink. Don Saleski was our coach. Nice man, but I think I could skate better than him . A lot of the Flyers came to that camp to help out for a day or two. I remember Rick MacLeish and Bob Kelley showed up in their orange Corvettes...very cool |

Yeah, I was wondering about that? Can't put one of your drafted players up in a hotel room for the camp?? WTF? |

The Adams award is based solely on the regular season. So yes, MAKING the playoffs is absolutely factored in, but how well a team does in the postseason is not.
Personally, I've always found this to be silly. If the goal of an NHL team is to win the Cup, the coach of the year should not be voted on until the playoffs conclude.
