LOL!

Started reading an article about "Ironmen" in the NHL and its was about Kris Letang. Seriously?

- jak521

May not be an Ironman. But I give him a lot of respect continuing to play in the NHL (and at a high level) after suffering a stroke.

Rielly got six years at $5m and Kadri got six years at $4.5m.

I think Ghost and Schenn will be looking for slightly better deals than that this summer. Ghost still has a year left but it might be a good idea for Hextall to look him up long term before he plays a full NHL season and scores 60+ points.

Anyone on the Flyers have a similar deal to Rielly?

Holmgren trading him for Schenn and Simmonds was a bigger get out of jail job than the Bryz amnesty.

Yeah he should look at ghost this summer

Kadri is a good comp for schenn. If I'm the flyers I try and get him to go for a deal like that. Wouldn't mind a slightly higher AAV for less years. 5 @ 4.75?

That's what I was thinking for Schenn. That way he could become a free agent a couple of months before turning 30 which would set him up for another big deal assuming he plays well.

There was a guy like that playing in the AHL, but I don't know what happened to him. I was told he got demoted because Hakstol hated his game, so maybe he quit hockey to flip burgers or something.

Elliotte Friedman in his latest 30 thoughts column has Ghost on his all rookie team, gives him serious consideration for the Calder which he said was the toughest decision of all the post season awards and has Simmonds on his third team all NHL all star line up.

Amac is actually a nice story this season.
Demoted, didn't complain, and did well when called back.
I hope he brings his A game now because they need him to.

Re Schenn's next deal:

I think Hexy tries to go 4 years, even if it costs a bit more. I'm thinking, 4 years, 20.5 million, aav $5.125 million per. It's not the amount that usually gets a team in trouble, it's the length of the deal. If AMac was only signed for 4 years at 5 million per, he'd be much easier to move right now.

I was staunchly in the camp that said Schenn can't get paid more than Couturier, but then he scored 59 points. So now I'd be OK with something like 5 years at $4.8m with maximum frontloading.

I agree that Schenn and Coots should be forever linked. Offer him the same deal, or something close.

Nope, no player on the Flyers has a $5M cap hit for the next 6 seasons.

With Voracek's contract kicking in next year, and Schenn getting paid, are the Flyers going to have enough money to add a guy who can put the puck in the net in free agency? I sure hope so.

That turned out to be a great trade, but look at what we got for Carter? If Cousins turns out to be a solid 3rd line player (who can score in a shootout), wow..

Yes, but Schenn has actually performed well at the NHL level prior to his next deal. AMac, on the other hand, had performed "meh."

I don't think Hexy goes the FA route just yet. He will continue to be patient and shed $$ wherever possible for the next year. I don't expect the Flyers to get involved in free agency, other than bargain deals, until 7/1/17

Any players in mind that you would have interest in Hexy going after?
