Average captain. It helps that he's had drug issues and The trade seemed like it had to happen at the time. It will be interesting though - Just5
Hopefully he's clean and healthy now for good. It's ashame how his tenure ended here in Philly. When he was first coming up you could tell he'd be successful in the NHL. When he worked hard and did the little things, he was a very good and valuable player. But once things went downhill and his work ethic dissipated, he lost me as a fan.
I'll say this, say whatever you want about Paul Holmgren as a GM but he did two things that impressed the hell out of me:
the 07-08 transformation.
The Richards/Carter trades.
They were bold. |

You can hang on his jock, in fanboy manner, and disregard how he treated a man who's wife just died after a bout with cancer. Barber never made it public. I judge a man on his character, not his hockey stats - KINGKENZO
Yeah well Bob Clarke is considered the Flyers greatest player and is probably my sports hero ...He said some pretty crappy things about a guy who was dying of cancer years ago ... Everybody gives him a free pass! |

Still love the guy for what he did with the Flyers. The guy is a winner, but I hope not with the team he is on now! |

The comments made by Bob Clarke towards Roger Neilson were soulless. Clarke also handled things with Eric Lindros and Dave Babych were horribly. I don't know how Clarke made it to the otherside of all that respected and with his job. |

People seem to ignore all his other accomplishments and continue to dwell on the fact that he was one of the reasons that Bill Barber got fired as head coach. - Cable2k
Reading several old articles plenty of other players seemed to follow suit including Boucher who seems to be a likeable guy.
Barber should've stepped down that season. Reading that he was behind the bench hours after his wife passed was mind boggling. Maybe the players felt like they were getting roasted by the papers, but in my opinion the should have kept it buttoned up and only expressed it to management in privacy. Take the heat for the summer from the papers and turn it around in the next year. You're big boys. |

may have been mentioned earlier, but just watching a replay of NHL Network afternoon show with EJ Hradek...and they had Dave Poulin call in and talk about Mr. Snider and his experience with him and those teams...
jesus (frank)ing christ, i can't take the emotional drain much longer.....
i miss those mid 80s teams so badly and the near misses they had will never go away. it will eat at me forever.
i love poulin. always have. wish he would rejoin the organization.

What?? Come on. Hasn't he missed all kinds of time for blood clots etc?? You could say that he's resilient and dedicated, but not an ironman that doesn't miss any games?? Anything to write about the Penguins I guess. Was it written by Pierre Maguire?

Well, from what I've read and watched regarding previews, if the Flyers want to play the underdog, this is certainly the opportunity. I haven't read or heard 1 prediction that had them winning. (Cordell has them winning in 7, but that's it).
I don't see them winning, but not really getting any respect for their recent play as most people take Washington in a cake walk. I think it might go 6 or 7 tough games. |

I had them not making the playoffs, but playing meaningful games in late March, before the year. The only way I wouldn't view this as a success is if they get swept. If they can win one game, I'm happy. |
