Just from the comments of the players, even some of who haven't been here long, shows what an organization Snider built. #WinItForEd - Jsaquella
Seems it took no time at all for players to develop a ton of respect for Ed. |

Top Russian trained prospect. Plays a very North American game; stylistically like a Kopitar, I have read. Potentially elite 2 way game, size, great skater with great vision offensively. Basically a do-it-all type center with #1 potential. I read there's even a chance he comes to the CHL due to playing time complaints.
Could be one of the steals of the draft. We've seen it plenty in recent history how the top Russians like Kuznetsov or Tarasenko go underrated and become steals. Could be another. If one of Rubtsov, Jost, or Bellows (maybe in that order) is available for Flyers pick, I pray Hexy pounces like a hyena on raw hamburger. |

Unfortunately, no.
Playing the NHL video game series was the best. He'd just blurt out random Clement-isms. Then they replaced him with Doc and Edzo. |

You take Jones, Gauthier, Tufte.
I will roll with Keller, Jost, and Rubtsov. |

I think even if they picked at that spot there would be better options............plus I'd need to look into that "rumor" it's a serious claim. |

You mean the management of Team Russia supplying their 17-18 year olds with meldonium as part of their training regimen? Non factor in my mind. The ban just went up in January, and I read there's uncertainty about when it leaves the system. Can take months. Even so, I see it as hard to assign culpability to the kids. It could drop Rubtsov's stock (all the better in my mind), but mostly because scouts just won't be able to see him at U18s.
Who are your better options in that mock then, if you say there's better? Jost is right up there for me, from what I have gleaned. He's justifiable over him, maybe preferable. If you want to lump d men, there's Bean and McAvoy and Fabbro. Not sure I see them being clear BPA over those two though, even if they're up there. |

I didn't see Bob Clarke play live, but it doesn't mean I don't have an opinion of him. Same goes for Mark Howe, Dave Schultz, Rick Tocchet (version 1), etc, basically any player before Lindros. It doesn't mean I haven't read about them, seen videos on them, and heard people talk about them to form the best opinion I can. I assumed that you have/had done the same. I understand that I was wrong, and that you have no opinions of NHL players before the early 90s.
However, I do not know what "grokking" is. - jmatchett383
He's in the HOF, so he's good. I saw him play, but not enough to love or hate him.
Grokking means grasping or understanding. It's a Star Trek word. Before your time. |

On the Sirius Hockey channel today, I heard Luke Richardson's name come up for the Ottawa vacancy. From the tenor of the conversation, I would guess that he's not likely to get a head coaching job this year, but that in the near future he's about as sure a thing as can be.
I hope its true, I liked him a lot when he was with the Flyers. |

Grokking came from Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land". |

It's not a Star Trek word my friend. It's from a Robert Heinlein book called Stranger in a Strange Land that was published way before Star Trek came out. Sci Fi series adopted it early. |

I like this post. I've met Bobby Clarke. I believe I live in the same state as Mark Howe and I once saw Rick Tocchet verision 2 play in Toronto. I barely noticed him.
Overall well said, I also came on board as a fan during Lindros' best days. Sadly only saw him play live as a Maple Leaf and he scored against us. Fun fact, Mike Richards scored his first shorthanded goal two guys short in the same game on Ed Belfour. That moment was jaw dropping. Patrick Sharp was there too. |
